6. The best day of the week... Wednesday Club Night!

1. Why is it a good idea? So what are you waiting for?!

This is a group for both current and prospective members of Barnes Squash Club which I hope will provide some useful information to all those who join, including:

1. Barnes Squash Club is the Squash Section of Barnes Sports Club which is located at 251-261 Lonsdale Rd, Barnes in South West London. Barnes Sports Club covers a host of activities with differing sections for Hockey, Cricket, Tennis,

as well as Squash and has a busy social club and bar open most nights of the week with Sky TV.

2. So why choose the Squash Club?

- The Squash section is a friendly and affordable club. That's right people... membership is a bargain and works out at only £10 a month! As for friendliness I've only been a member for a few weeks and I already feel like I've become a part of the group. Everyone is always up for a cheeky pint in the clubhouse after a game!
- There are 2 well-maintained squash courts which (I have reliably been informed) are getting yet another refurb during the Summer!
- Courts can be booked online by members up to 7 days in advance
- They can be used 7 days a week from 8am - 9:30pm and each booking is for 40 minutes. The courts lights are operated by a token that can be purchased by members at the club house for only £4.

3. For more information on booking and to book courts online please go to:

http://www.barnessquashclub.org/booking/

4. There is a league system, more sociable than serious, operating on a calendar month basis. The winner of each league gets promoted and the unfortunate loser demoted!

- The club are also entering the Surrey Squash Racquets Association Summer League with 14 games between May and September.

5. There is a one-off joining fee for membership to the club and an annual squash club subscription.

- Barnes Sports Club is a non profit organisation. The squash membership fees are set each year to cover running and capital investment costs. The membership year runs from Oct 1 through to Sept 30.

6. Every Wednesday evening at 7:30pm - 9:30pm there is a club night where anyone can turn up and pay to play. As if you need to ask...

- Members pay only £3
- Non-Members, who are very welcome: £4
- It is a great way to try before you join and to play against others of various abilities
- There are always lots of friendly faces
- It is a good excuse for a sociable drink or two after a few games! We are a small, friendly bunch always looking for new members so come along and give it a try! You don't know what you're missing...
