🌟 Small Group Coaching 🌟 the perfect, affordable addition to your dance training to refine your strength, technique and knowledge of your body. Returning to classes after lockdown, we are all feeling the effects of the past year on our bodies. Loss of strength, stamina, muscle memory and projection. We can help with that! 👍

Small group coaching classes are designed as an addition to your current studio classes, limited to a maximum of 6 students, allowing for a great amount of individual focus and feedback.

From these classes you will gain:

→ A deep understanding of anatomy and kinesiology.
→ Knowledge of how YOUR body is structured and how to utilise it best.
→ A comprehensive programme of conditioning and strength building exercises.
→ Drills to practice at home.
→ A solid understanding of dance technique.
→ Personalised corrections and feedback to help you improve.
→ Increased performance, strength and flexibility to apply to your dancing.

I’m super excited to release our Easter sign up classes, running Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week! 🌟

With dance schools on the brink of returning, now is a crucial time to make sure you’re mentally and physically prepared for going back to class. I’ve designed these classes to prepare our bodies for returning to the studio to minimise injury after an extended period of rest and get us in the headspace for smashing our dance goals this year! 💪

Progressing Ballet Technique is a conditioning program specifically designed for ballet dancers to improve alignment, strength, control, posture, technique and much more. This week in Power Up! we’ve been looking at how to unlock our flexibility 🗝️

Did you know there is a huge psychological component to flexibility? If our muscles aren’t strong enough to recover from a deep stretch/lengthening of the muscle, our brain will trigger what’s called our ‘stretch reflex’ to protect the muscle 🤯

This is very clever and is designed to help keep our body safe but a bit annoying when we’re trying to encourage our muscles to lengthen easily. 😕 We can unlock this with many different techniques such as breathing, massage, strengthening work and a bit of trickery, however the approach will be different for every person depending on where the current restriction is.

The power up students this week are learning how to identify what the restriction is in themselves and what techniques to implement to increase their own flexibility. If you'd like to discover this for yourself give me a message! 😊

✨HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESN’T WORK HARD✨

I’m sure you’ve all heard this quote before but I’d like to put a slightly different spin on in and talk about what I call the ‘Talent Myth’.

With skills such as dancing, singing, acting and other creative hobbies, our society as a whole tends to believe you’re either born with the talent to succeed or your not - this is a lie! Creative skills are just that… skills! Most of the skills required for dance and other disciplines have to be learnt and practiced. Some people may naturally find some aspects easier and others harder but everything can be improved if you know how! 🤗

That’s where having great teachers and mentors come in. Make sure you have someone with expert knowledge to guide you in the right direction. Once you have the belief in yourself and the steps for how to get there all you have to do is put in the hard work and enjoy the journey! 💪

"CONSISTENCY is more important than PERFECTION"

We can all get caught up in trying to be perfect in anything we do, but is there even a thing as perfection?

Something one person may see as perfect may not be too another's taste and there truly is no way to please everyone. 🤷‍♀️

What we can control is consistency. If we work hard consistently towards out goals, implementing the guidance of our teachers then the only way is up. ⬆️

Don't worry about the RESULT focus on being CONSISTENT and the results will come ❤️

💥 Power Up! 6 week dance intensive starts this weekend! 💥

With news of the latest lockdown and dance schools having to close. I’ve decided to run another 'Power Up!' course to allow as many young people as possible to keep up with their dance training whilst at home.

Power Up! Is a 6 week dance intensive focusing on anatomy and technique, empowering young dancers to understand their own bodies and work efficiently, intelligently and confidently whist training in class or at home.

You will receive:

✅ 9 hours of live, interactive masterclasses on a comprehensive list of technical topics.
✅ A 26 page workbook with over 75 exercises and drills to practice at home
✅ Weekly homework to keep you on track
✅ A 1-2-1 Feedback session after the course

Power Up! is coming to Saturday mornings again!!🥳

With news of the latest lockdown I’ve decided to run another Power Up course on Saturday mornings as well as Sundays to allow as many people as possible to keep up with their dance training whilst at home 💪

The course will run for 6 weeks starting the 14th November and places are strictly limited on a first come first served basis so get your forms filled out quickly! 📩

Who is looking forward to halloween!? 🎃

During half terms I'm usually busy travelling all over teaching my technique workshops but this year seems to have different plans 😔

However, I'm really enjoying teaching online and opening up new opportunities for students all over to train with me! 🥰

Foot anatomy! 🦶

Let’s have a little chat about foot anatomy. Our feet are so fundamental to us as dancers as they are at the base of almost everything we do, so we owe it to them to understand how they work 🧐

The foot has two main groups of muscles, the INTRINSIC foot muscles and EXTRINSIC foot muscles.

The INTRINSIC muscles are those located within the foot. They help us with stabilisation and balance and create movement through the foot and toes 👣

The EXTRINSIC muscles attach from the foot through the ankle and to the lower leg. These muscles work to pointe (plantarflexion) and flex (dorsiflextion) our ankle joint, rise onto demi pointe and stabilise the ankle joint🦿

BOTH groups of muscles need to be strong for us to perform with skill and safety on our feet.

Tomorrow I’ll be sharing an exercise to build strength in the intrinsic foot muscles, so keep your eyes peeled! 👀
