ABOUT THE ACADEMY
AIM – The aim of the Academy is for pupils to gain enjoyment from dance, as well as encouraging and developing self-confidence, imagination, interaction, co-operation and musicality. Simple Ballet movements are introduced right from day one with basic technique being taught. The pupils can progress to any form of dance at a later stage. More formal teaching of technique does not begin until pupils are old enough to enjoy a more structured approach. MODERN – Children can start learning Modern from about 6 years, as long as they have had some ballet training. TAP - Children can start learning Tap Dancing from about 6 years, again as long as they have had some ballet training. Both of these forms of dance encourage the children to be rhythmically aware which helps to develop musicality. BALLET IS THE BASIS OF ALL FORMS OF DANCE AND THEREFORE IS THE CLASS I ENCOURAGE THE CHILDREN TO ATTEND. All the teaching faculty are fully qualified dance teachers in their field or genre of dance, with enhanced DBS. All teachers are experienced as well as having a career within the Entertainment Industry. EXAMINATIONS – Children who wish may be entered for exams in Ballet, Modern and Tap from about 6 years. The Academy will organise for an examiner from the I.S.T.D. to visit the School. Children entering Grade Examinations may need more than one class a week to reach the necessary standard. THE ACADEMY HOLDS A 100% PASS RATE WITH THE MAJORITY OF PUPILS OBTAINING DISTINCTION.
