Let’s break down the 3 biggest mistakes new agents continue to make (and how to avoid them):

⚠️ 1️⃣ Offering players without paperwork - It’s unprofessional and damages everyone’s reputation, yours, the player’s, and the industry’s.

When multiple agents offer the same player without mandates or contracts, clubs stop taking the player seriously.

👉 No paperwork = no credibility = no payment.

⚽ 2️⃣ Not understanding a player’s level - This is a big one.

Cold messaging clubs about players who clearly don’t fit their level shows a lack of football intelligence.

Before you pitch a player, ask yourself: “Could this player realistically play for this club?”

Respect the pyramid. Build from the level you understand best.

🤝 3️⃣ Failing to network properly

Your network is your business. But networking is a skill.

Stop sending “hello” or “hi bro” messages, that’s not networking!!

⚽️ As we are in the winter transfer window, today let’s discuss ‘TRANSFER BROKERING’

❓ What is ‘TRANSFER BROKERING’?
Simply put, transfer brokering is when you broker the transfer of a player that is not your client. For example you could be working on behalf of the club or on behalf of the players agent.

📚 CASE STUDY

Over my 13 years as a Football Agent, I’ve brokered dozens of transfers for clubs. Today I want to discuss one specific case. 🇧🇪 KVC Westerlo in Belgium asked me to help them move out some players and one of them was Basilio Ndong. I brought interest from 🇳🇴 IK Start and after a lot of negotiations I closed a LOAN + Option. The player done extremely well and IK Start activated the option and made the deal permanent.

🇳🇴 IK Start were so impressed with my professionalism and the quality of the player that when they wanted to sell him 18 months later, they came to me and asked me to help them. I brought an extremely good offer from 🇷🇴 CSU Craiova in Romania which was a big jump in level for the player and a nice profit for IK Start 🇳🇴 all parties including the player and his agent were happy.

⚠️ The biggest mistake aspiring football agents make when recruiting their first player.

Most new agents think the hardest part is finding talent.
It isn’t.

The real challenge is knowing who to sign, when to sign them, and how to approach them correctly.

After 12.5 years as a FIFA Licensed Football Agent, here are 5 mistakes I see aspiring agents make repeatedly:

❌ Chasing players before understanding their real level
Potential > hype. Clubs don’t care about Instagram followers.

❌ Ignoring youth players because they’re not “marketable” yet
Most successful careers are built early — not at 23.

❌ Approaching players without a clear development plan
If you can’t explain where they’re going, don’t expect trust.

❌ Not building relationships with coaches and local scouts
Gatekeepers matter more than DMs.

❌ Overlooking regulations and compliance at the start
