*PFOs are a common congenital heart defect. It is a hole between the right and left sides of the heart. The ovale is the wall separating the atria. Before birth, the foramen ovale has an opening that lets blood 💉 pass from the right to the left atrium. Shortly after birth, this opening fuses.
