THE MENTAL EFFECTS OF WEIGHT LOSS

This is deffo a tough one for me to post, but one I think so many of you can benefit from🤍

The girl in the 2nd picture was me at my lowest weight in 2019, i was in an extreme calorie deficit of 1300 if not less! I looked so weak, limp and had very little muscle on me! My diet consisted of Egg whites, dry chicken and rice, I literally convinced myself that these were the foods i ‘loved’🥲 I had what you would call the ‘Weight Lose High’ which honestly is not spoken about enough in gym culture and needs to be known!

Before loosing a lot of weight I let my insecurities control my life all I wanted was to lose weight and feel confident. So once i started loosing weight thats when the ‘weight loss high’ kicked in, a MASSIVE boost of confidence that you get after weight loss, you start loving the compliments you never had before from friends and family, but once that high dips down you want to chase it further by becoming even more restrictive!

It wasn’t until I went on Holiday to Bali in 2019 where I spiralled out of control due to restricting myself for too long. The first few days of my holiday I would mentally track the calories of what I was eating, I would tell myself to only eat half of the portion I ordered, till it got to a point I was so hungry I gave up and just ate whatever I wanted on holiday, but telling myself that when I get home it’s straight back to a calorie deficit.

When i got home i found it harder than ever to stick to calories and binging was out of control, so what did i do… decided to lower my calories even further🤦🏼‍♀️ Of course I still couldn’t stick to it as it was so restrictive, but I genuinely thought something was wrong with me because I couldn’t stick to my deficit!

I struggled with this for MONTHS, it wasn’t till lockdown i started to address my eating issues and started intuitively eating! Fuelling my body whenever i wanted and whatever it needed! Seriously changed my whole view of fitness and now i look at it i’m so blessed I went through my ED’s so I can help educate many girls to approach their journeys the right way🤍✨
