It's been a total pleasure to work with The Ski Podcast, bringing listeners news about the best ski kit for this season. We recorded the ski boots episode this week, and I think it's a goody.
Except....
On listening to the pod, I was shocked to hear what comes out of my mouth sometimes. I was talking about the Scarpa 4-Quattro boots, which they promoted as 'developed with Bode Miller' for their Pro model for a while. In the podcast, I said Bode Townsend instead, probably because I then went on to talk about the inimitable Ffion Townsend.
At first I thought I'd said Cody Townsend, but Cody is all Salomon - I'm super interested to see the new Salomon boot development he's been working on, when that's released.
The Scarpa 4-Quattro boots are truly superb, and I know Nikolai Schirmer has done a lot with them on this boot line.
If you love freeride touring, you should check out each of Niko and Cody's content - they both put a mass of time and effort into producing motivating and inspiring content, a great boost when getting in shape for the season -

It was ace to visit the new Arc'teryx store in Covent Garden. It opened doors to customers for the first time over the weekend.
An airy, welcoming layout across two floors, covering technical clothing and kit for snowsports, climbing and trail fun, along with their urban-focussed Veilance gear.

It's the largest Arc'teryx store in Europe and the only one to include their ReBIRD kit care service, which is darn impressive.

If your Arc'teryx kit's in need of a wash or reproof, they've got your covered. Taken on Mother Nature and lost? No worries, as their in-house repair service will get you sorted and on your way in no time. Oh, and it's all part of the service, no charge.

If you've had a real whoopsie, meaning your beloved Arc'teryx kit needs to be sent to a bigger kit hospital, they work with a superb centre in Scotland, however there may be a cost for this.

Keeping your kit in service for longer is superb for this planet we love to explore. Arc'teryx is doing way more to look after Mother Nature though. For example, all of their Gore-tex waterproof outwear will be ePe by the end of 2024. That's a swift change to PFC free waterproofing; great work.

Want to visit the store yourself? Head to 41/42 King Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 8JS. It's just a couple of minutes walk from the tube station.

Exciting times in Austrian mountains of . Testing the new freeride touring Quattro XT. Can't wait to cut some turns & tracks in this pretty sweet looking, powerful feeling, freeride beaut.

130 flex, bonded low profile GripWalk sole, incredibly free feeling walk/tour function with a sleek walk mode giving over 60 degrees ROM (cheeky, it's quoted at 61), with reassuringly firm liner.

We'll let you know more when we've skied and skinned it.

Massive thanks to for allowing us to get on them - sorry as these may be on your feet tomorrow.

So good to get to chat to the rather fantastic Rory Atton, founder of dewerstone, on the latest episode of The Ski Podcast

dewerstone is a UK based, certified B Corp UK company, supporting Protect Our Winters and 1% for the Planet, that makes incredible outdoor gear. Rory is a total powderphile too, having spent a ton of time chasing the white stuff.

He knows a thing or two about ski kit, but that's another story.

Check out their gear to get on-board with what they're doing, the right way, and listen to episode 89 of The Ski Podcast wherever you pick your pods.

Tecnica Sports with sweet colourways for winter 22/23, especially in their women's boots. Loving the Mach 1 95 W bright blue buckles and the Cochise 105 W in deep purple.

Cochise boots are very popular and understandably so - great power, fit and decent touring ability. We really like the lock screw on the walk lever - it simply works.

Not into touring? The Mach 1 comes in LV (low volume, 98mm), MV (100mm) and HV (103mm). Simple things like a hook for the power strap, so you don't need to unthread it every time, and buckles over the top of the foot that automatically keep the buckles open, out of the way, making it easier to put the boots on. There's loads more tech in them, but we'll bring your more in time for next winter.

Also got the Mach Sport range for those not looking for as much performance.

Zero G Peak Carbon wasn't one we got to shoot, but at 990g it's pretty exciting. (980g in 26.5MP for the non-carbon version, which actually does use carbon). Still got some of the CAS liner and shell tech, seen in other Tecnica products, in a light boot, that looks as though it should ski pretty well and with a 75° ROM.

Love the Power Lock power strap hook (like Mach 1). Also got a lighter version of the Zero-G Tour Double Blocking walk mode mech, called T-Hike. Comes with Dynafit Quick-Step inserts.

Want a bit more beef? Check out their awesome Zero G Tour range of boots.

Loving the smack-around-the-face colour scheme of Fischer Ski models for winter 22/23. They make some incredible kit and exciting times in the UK scene for Fischer.

Can't wait to jump on some of these, and the new Ranger planks.

Massive thanks to Syndicate Brand Partnerships for their knowledge and expert insight, taking us through the ski and boot range from Fischer, at the SIGB show.

Some exciting boot fit solutions for the coming season too - but what else do you expect from the company that brought us Vacuum fit.
