For years, we've been taught that discipline is all about being perfect. That if we could just get everything right, every single time, we would be successful. But the truth is, that's just not possible. Nobody is perfect, and striving for perfection can lead to burnout and disappointment.
Instead, discipline is about continuity. It's about showing up, day after day, and doing the work. It's about building habits that support our goals and sticking to them, even when it's hard.
When we focus on continuity instead of perfection, we give ourselves the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them. We're able to stay motivated and committed, even when we don't see immediate results. And most importantly, we're able to build a foundation of discipline that will serve us for years to come.
