Good week-lot of work done. Time to reset the resilience button and get out in the dark and cold to train. Like everything else it’s a habit. What we do now sets us up for 2025.

Ania- This is a recent one. Ania is a veteran ultra runner with many big races under her belt. She is one of this people will turn up for every event and get the job done regardless of the many challenges that ultras can throw at you. Her tally of events is impressive. I have known and worked with Ania for many years through thick and thin, injuries and setbacks but she keeps going. This year Ania’s A race was to be the UTS (Ultra tour Snowdonia 100k). Training had gone to plan and she was ready for the race. 3 weeks before UTS she was knocked off her bike and landed face first at speed on the pavement. The other party sped off! Luckily one of the bystanders was an ultra runner and stopped to help get Ania to hospital. Her front teeth smashed and her jaw damaged as well as being badly shaken and in shock. 3 weeks later (in some discomfort which is Ania speak for a lot of pain) she was in the start line at the UTS and finished well with a smile on her face. Treatment for her injuries continues!! This was all her pure fortitude and tenacity, toughing it out and taking care of business. Inspiring as always Ania - very proud of you. J .charlotte.mundy

Holy Island Marathon 2024 is completed for another year. It was certainly made more challenging by the Sea fret but honestly it made it even more fun for the runners. We don’t do this sport because it’s easy!

Constant progression isn’t just about faster. It’s as about learning and making the right choices in recovery, nutrition and goal setting. The races are the proof that the rest is being done correctly even then the wheels can come off. Ultra’s are unique each and every time. Fail to learn, learn to fail. The Coach is only half the story.
