A few extra things I wanted to add to this post ❤️
📍 Download what3words.
Especially if you ride in remote places. Have it on your phone before you need it. It can help you communicate your exact location to emergency services where supported. I’d also make sure you know how to find and share your GPS location from your phone, particularly when travelling abroad.
🩹 Do a first-aid course.
We already put our Moloko ride leaders through first-aid training, but after last week I genuinely think this is something every cyclist should attend, not just people leading rides.
There is so much more to know than I could ever cover in an Instagram post: CPR, serious bleeding, head and spinal injuries, what to do if someone is unconscious, when you should or shouldn’t move someone…etc.
This post isn’t intended to teach you all of that, but to hopefully encourage you to go and book that course.
Keen to make space at Moloko to organise some First Aid for Cyclists sessions too to be honest, maybe send me a message if this is something you would like to do.
And finally, I know I won’t have covered everything here. If you’re a first aider, ride leader, medical professional, or you’ve unfortunately been in a similar situation, please add anything genuinely useful that I’ve missed in the comments.
Save this post. Share it with the people you ride with. Hopefully you won’t need it but at least you’ll be prepared ❤️
