Iāve had a ripe ole opportunity to practice patience and kindness while trying to fly to Canada these past few days. And trust me, trying is the key word here.
- delayed for 5 hours
- then cancelled
- 3 more hours queuing and waiting for transport
- another hour queuing at a hotel reception to be told there are no rooms left
- for a flight that was meant to be 6pm, my head hit the hotel pillow at 4am
- and Iām still trying to get to Canada!
Very kindly 2 complete strangers offered for me to share their room š. I witnessed passengers, tired, confused and frustrated holding their patience and holding their positivity and supporting one another. A kind word, a phone call to help, some conversation. It really warms my heart š
Thereās so much good in the world, if youāre willing to see it āŗļø. And this has been my experience through and through when lone travelling in the past. (And in many other situations!)
Donāt get me wrong, thereās space for the feelings, space for the frustration, but thereās also space for gratitude at the same time for something small.
Whatās not going your way? And what could the silver lining be? What small thing can you be grateful for, and hold space for alongside the rest of your emotions?
Let me know in the comments!
My coaching practice has helped me through this, helped me to question my perspectives and turn a stressful situation into a calm (er) one āŗļøā¦. If youād like help with finding new perspectives coaching is ace for that. Check out the link in my bio for a session.
