As coaches, we naturally want to provide answers, correct mistakes and guide every moment. But real learning often happens when players are given the freedom to make decisions, experience consequences and find solutions for themselves.

Dennis Bergkamp’s words are a powerful reminder that development isn’t about creating players who can follow instructions — it’s about creating players who can think, adapt and solve problems under pressure.

The best coaches know when to intervene, but they also know when to observe, listen and allow the game to be the teacher.

🏆 Enjoyment. Development. Success.

When people talk about elite football, the conversation often focuses on trophies, contracts and results.

Yet one of the most respected coaches in the game, Luis Enrique, continues to remind us of something much bigger:

“Let your child enjoy themselves. Your objective as a parent is that your child is happy and develops as a person.”

This weekend, Enrique guided Paris Saint-Germain to another Champions League title, their second in a row. A remarkable achievement at the highest level of the game.

But perhaps the most important lesson isn’t the trophy itself.

It’s that creating an environment where people enjoy learning, feel supported, and can develop without fear often leads to the best outcomes. Whether that’s a child taking their first steps in football or a professional player competing on the biggest stage.

This quote says everything about why he’s stayed at the top for so long. No shortcuts. No entitlement. Just work.

In football now, everyone wants quick results. But the players who really progress are usually the ones willing to keep showing up, keep learning and keep working when nobody’s watching.

On Saturday we were incredibly proud to be part of at as football ambassadors for such a special cause.

What Jamie and Charlotte have built over the years deserves huge respect. The work they continue to do in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital is genuinely inspiring, using football to bring people together, raise awareness and make a real difference to families and children who need it most.

At Target Football, supporting projects and charities like this is something we care deeply about. Football has the power to connect people from all different backgrounds around one common purpose, and days like this are a reminder of why the game is so powerful beyond the pitch.

It was brilliant to spend the day alongside so many like-minded people, brands, creators, players and supporters all sharing the same vision — using football as a platform to create positive impact.

A massive thank you to everyone involved and proud that the whole Target Football team played their part throughout the day. 💙
