The only reason you avoid yourself and fall into patterns of self neglect is because you've been convinced by your brain that these high intensity emotions, like fear, intrusive thoughts, anxiety, pressure, stress, or even physical pain are life threatening. If you can be okay with these things and just see them for what they are: just thoughts and feelings, then you have mastered the art of not fearing your fears. You've now come out of fight or flight, switched off the amygdala (emotional brain) and switched on the rational aspect of your brain.
All of a sudden, outside "threats" no longer seem like it will drown us back into a downward spiral.. They just seem like problems we can solve, because instead of falling prey to our issues or a depressive state, we rose up into a frequency that can take care of all of these things.
This is what happens when you let your "scary" thoughts and feelings pass through you - you become separate from them and so you no longer identify with them, so a space is fostered to turn these things into love and compassion. You are now in a frequency that can solve all your issues.
