Tank’s power has always been different 🔥

Gervonta “Tank” Davis has some of the most explosive power in boxing. He doesn’t need to throw a high volume of punches because one clean shot can completely change a fight. That’s why his opponents have to stay focused every second they’re in the ring.

What makes Tank so dangerous is his timing. He stays patient, waits for a mistake, and when the opening appears, he makes it count. It’s a style that has produced some of the most memorable knockouts in modern boxing.

The vacant IBF heavyweight title just got attached to Itauma v Hrgovic fight!

Moses Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) meets Filip Hrgovic (20-1, 15 KOs) on Saturday, August 29 at The O2 Arena in London, live on DAZN PPV. It was originally billed as a normal step-up test for the 21-year-old Itauma, a chance to see how he handled a genuine world-level operator. For a minute it looked like the IBF might swap Hrgovic out entirely and slot in mandatory challenger Frank Sanchez instead. In the end, the simplest option won: leave the fight as it is, and just put the vacant belt on it.

Itauma is a 21-year-old British southpaw who turned pro under Frank Warren at just 16. He’s stopped Dillian Whyte in the first round and Jermaine Franklin in the fifth in his last two fights, and still hasn’t been out of the fourth round as a professional. A win makes him the second-youngest heavyweight world champion in history.

Hrgovic is a 34-year-old Croatian, a 2016 Olympic bronze medalist with only one loss on his record, an eighth-round stoppage to Daniel Dubois in a 2024 IBF interim title fight. He’s won three straight since, over Joe Joyce, David Adeleye, and Dave Allen, and this will be his fourth fight on British soil.

That completes the post-Usyk picture. Kabayel has the WBC, Gassiev has the WBA, Dubois has the WBO, and now the IBF gets settled August 29.

Frank Warren, who signed Itauma as a teenager, put it simply: “He’s been amazing and sort of taken the world by storm.” Hrgovic isn’t playing along with the coronation talk, he’s already predicted a seventh-round knockout and said his plan is to “throw him out of the ring.”

From development fight to world title fight in the space of a few weeks. Does Itauma’s rise actually survive contact with someone this experienced?

Canelo Álvarez vs. Caleb Plant took place on November 6, 2021, for the undisputed super middleweight championship. After a heated build-up, Plant boxed well in the early rounds, but Canelo’s pressure and power gradually took over.

In the eleventh round, Canelo scored two knockdowns before stopping Plant, becoming the first undisputed super middleweight champion in boxing history and adding another historic achievement to his legendary career.

🥊 In Auckland, David Nyika (12-1, 10 KOs) fights on home soil at Eventfinda Stadium in an IBF cruiserweight eliminator against fellow Trans-Tasman contender Floyd Masson (17-2, 9 KOs), streaming on TVNZ+. Winner becomes IBF’s number one and locks in a mandatory shot at the vacant title, Nyika’s second real crack at redemption after coming up short in a short-notice title bid against Jai Opetaia.

🥊 In Dublin, Aaron McKenna (20-0, 10 KOs) finally gets his first professional fight on Irish soil at the 3Arena, live on Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland and Paramount+ in the US, and Zuffa made it count: a shot at the vacant IBF middleweight title against unbeaten Italian Etinosa Oliha (22-0, 10 KOs). First time Ireland’s hosted a middleweight world title fight in more than three decades. Both guys walk in unbeaten, and McKenna’s already talking about Canelo and Eubank Jr. if he gets through this one.

🥊 In Orlando, one more New-Zealand Māori Cherneka Johnson (19-2, 8 KOs) and Dina Thorslund (24-0, 9 KOs) of Denmark fight for all four belts at once at the Caribe Royale, live on ESPN and ESPN+, a genuine undisputed bantamweight championship, the kind of stakes men’s boxing rarely offers in a single fight anymore.

Floyd Mayweather’s “Dog House” became one of the most famous sparring traditions in boxing. Unlike a normal gym where fighters spar a set number of rounds, the Dog House was built around one rule: stay in the ring until someone gives in. Fresh opponents could rotate in while the fighter already in the ring had to keep going, creating a relentless test of skill, conditioning, and mental toughness.
