Rebecca Welch made history this weekend as the first female to referee a Championship match.

Late to the world of refereeing, Welch impressively has multiple English Women’s FA Cup finals on her refereeing CV, as well as being the first woman to take charge of an English FA Cup third-round game last year.

And now, with her first Championship match under her belt, we wouldn't bet against her achieving her ultimate ambition - to ref in the Premier League! Go girl!

Wholesome content 💚

Thanks to a recent M&S competition that ran over summer in partnership with the Scottish FA, the Giffnock FC under 16s girls team have won the opportunity to train with Scotland's national women's team! Hibernian LFC centre-back, Leah Eddie (pictured), surprised the girls with the news.

The head coach for Giffnock FC's under 16s girls, Kenny Wilson, said, “We are thrilled that we have won this amazing competition. We have more than 1,000 players on our books so it was hard to choose which team should have the chance to train with their idols but our under 16 girls have done so well, reaching a recent final, that we felt it would be perfect to celebrate their success and train with the women that inspire them every day.”

Giffnock Soccer Centre will meet and train with their Hibs heroes in Spring 2023.
