πŸ’₯BOOM!πŸ’₯

This week saw the summer leagues get underway and what a week it was for Loddon - a three win week.

The 3s set the tone on Monday with a 3-1 win at home to , before the 1s followed that up with a win down at on Wednesday with the 2s finishing off the week with a home win against . Unbelievable, Jeff.

The 1s and 3s will be in action next week, and will be hoping to carry that into those matches against EATSC 3s and EATSC 4s respectively.

Last night Loddon made the trip up the A146 to for an epic 9v9 pre-summers friendly, which was an awful lot of fun. Wins for .stewart9, Billy, Ben L and new 1s captain were cancelled out by losses for everyone else (, , Ben W, Little Al and Archie), giving East Anglia the win on the night.

Div of the Day would have gone to Mark Heazle for wasting multiple match balls in both the fourth and fifth games in his loss but instead it's shared between for forgetting he was on holiday and Sean for driving all the way to Waterlane in Lowestoft, thinking the match was there. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ.

Thanks to for organising and for their hospitality πŸΊπŸ”, it's always nice to get invitations like this. πŸ™

This weekend, Loddon Squash Club continued in it's quest for world domination by sending a crack unit of highly trained individuals (.stewart9, and Ben Lawrence) to Lincolnshire for the Spalding Open one-dayer.

Playing in the C-grade event for players with a Squash Level of between 1200 and 2599, the Loddon lads did us proud with Joe and Alex reaching the final, which Joe won 2-0, with Ben Lawrence finishing runner-up in the plate. No doubt their wives and girlfriends will be delighted for the them all, that long trip across the Fens made worthwhile. πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†. Legends.

Well, what a fun night that was. In the pre-summer warm up, Loddon 1s were incredibly hospitable and treated the 2s to a nice 3-1 confidence boost ahead of the start of league matches. 😜.

and Ben L got the night underway at the bottom of the order. Kenny put up a valiant fight, looking on the verge of a heart attack at various points, but was edged out 3-0. He had game points in the third which, if taken, could have provided a very different outcome given Big Ben's distain for matches any longer than three games. Ben eventually edged that 16-14 to take the win.

At #3, , who has been carried by the 1s for many a season now, couldn't capitalise on Ben W's unique match prep (falling asleep on his son's bed after putting him down for the night), and went down as easily as Ben did earlier, 3-0. Ben's frame played some cracking shot, mind.

then took on in the second string match. Mark never really found his rhythm with Big Al covering the court well, going down 3-1. Alex also looked on the verge of collapse at times, and wouldn't have relished the game going to a fifth.

This left the match delicately poised going into the first string match between .stewart9 and Sean. The presence of Joe's girlfriend on the balcony usually means he plays to impress and this was no different, racing into a 2-0 lead. Sean finally got warmed up in the third and fourth, pulling those games back to even the match. With the floor getting increasingly damp due to Sean's sweating, Joe coped better with the conditions and closed the game out for a 3-2 win, giving the 2s the overall victory.

Everyone enjoyed the chilli, beer and banter afterwards and we're looking forward to an epic 12 match friendly fixture at in two weeks time. Bring it on!

The match up we've all been waiting for! Forget Ali v Frazier, Rooney v Vardy et al, tomorrow night is where it's at as Loddon 1s take on Loddon 2s in a pre-summers warm-up. Boom.

At the top of the order Sean, who sweats a lot for a fit bloke, takes on Boyband Joe, whilst Mark Mantle and Big Alex will be making the court seem small at #2. Mark Heazle will definitely struggle to cope with Ben W's fitness at #3 and at #4, Ben L and Kenny will no doubt be aiming to hit the ball really hard, with zero width. It's going to be epic.

The chilli is being cooked and the beers chilled, and no doubt Dale will haul his creaking body up the stairs at some point to offer some advice/abuse from the gallery. We can't wait.

πŸ’₯What. A. Season.πŸ’₯

The Winter leagues reached their conclusion this week and it’s been a phenomenal one for our little club. We’ve had a bit of success over the last few years but this season has just surpassed all expectations.

The 3s took their form from last summer into the winter, running out comfortable winners of Division 3, finishing 16 points ahead of second placed Broadland 5s, losing just two matches of their 12 fixtures. That's two league titles in a row! Legends! πŸ†

The 2s stormed Division 2 by a huge 23 points, winning 11, drawing 1 and losing just two of their 14 matches. They’ll now be promoted to Div 1 next winter, where they’ll come up against the 1s. Heroes!πŸ†

The 1s, unfortunately, couldn't match what the other two teams have done, finishing a creditable fifth in Division 1, albeit only four points off third place. A strong second half of the season gives cause for optimism for the summers.

We've only been playing Norfolk league since 2021/22 but in that time we've gone from one team playing in Division 3, finishing mid-table, to three teams doing what they've done this year, fulfilling all matches with a great atmosphere to boot. The club is thriving and we're looking positively to the future, which isn't the case for all clubs, unfortunately. We're punching well above our weight, and long may that continue!

Thanks to all of our players who have helped make this season such a success, and bring on the summers!

πŸ’₯BOOM!πŸ’₯ Another three win week for Loddon in the winter leagues as we enter the final month of the season.

The 3s got the week off to a cracking start with a 3-1 win against Cromer 2s. Dale, Archie and Billy all good 3-0 wins with just Gav going down by the same score at the bottom of the order. The win puts them clear at top of the table with three matches left to play.

The following night the 2s beat Diss with Joe, Ben W and Fin all winning their games, Kenny being the only loser. They now have a 10 point cushion at the top of the league, also with 3 to play.

Lastly the 1s had a narrow 8-7 win at Barnham Broom. MoTM goes to Ben Lawrence who came back from 10-4 down to win the third game and give him a 3-0 win. Youngsy lost 3-2 and Mark H 3-0 but with Mark M getting an impressive 3-1 win, we took the match on games and the bonus points. Cowabunga!

With two teams sitting pretty at the top of their leagues this could end up being the club's most successful season yet. What a club!

The winter leagues restart after the Christmas break next week and what a second half it could be with both the 2s and 3s sitting top of their respective divisions at the halfway point. Both could feasibly win their divisions, adding to the silverware that the 1s won in Winter 2023/24 and the 3s in Summer 2025. What an achievement that would be for us!

The 3s get us underway at home against Broadland 4 on Monday in what could prove to be a vital match in the race for the title with both teams currently sitting on 71 points.

The 1s and 2s then restart on Tuesday with two strong looking teams travelling to East Anglia 4s and Diss Heywood 4s respectively. Stay tuned for results!
