A peaceful spot to relax, explore, and enjoy! ⛺🚐🚙✨ Lochranza Campsite
Kathryn and I have been wardens of Lochranza Campsite and managers of Lochranza Golf Course since January 2010. The opportunity came after a casual chat during a sea kayaking trip revealed that the owner, Iain Robertson, was retiring—and we haven’t looked back since. Lochranza, meaning “loch of the rowan tree river” in Old Nors
e, sits at the northern tip of the Isle of Arran, the most southerly of Scotland’s Western Isles. With white-washed cottages clustered around a castle ruin, towering ridges, and abundant wildlife—from red deer and squirrels to seals, otters, basking sharks, and soaring eagles—it’s a place of natural beauty that still amazes us daily. No wonder the Queen spent her honeymoon’s first night anchored here on the royal yacht Britannia. At Lochranza Campsite, we welcome tents, motorhomes, and caravans. As keen campers ourselves, we aim to offer the kind of experience we seek: hot showers, clean toilets, peaceful nights, a cosy campers’ room, and a helpful warden on hand. We strive to make camping comfortable while preserving the area’s natural, unspoilt charm. The campsite is a gateway to walks, cycle routes, local history, geology, and wildlife. Nearby, you can enjoy the Isle of Arran Whisky Distillery, our charming 11-hole golf course, or take the Calmac ferry to Kintyre. For great food, visit the popular Stags Pavilion and Wee Shop next door, run by Val and Rino. More info:
