Hi all,
After more than two years of negotiation, we yesterday signed a new 10-year lease for the Club on the River Goil.

As I'm sure most of you are aware, this has been something of a journey. We've had to make a strong case for the continuation of our tenancy in the context of the new Land Reform Act and approaches from other interested parties. We've had to change insurers and increase our public liability cover. We've had to negotiate the right to fish outwith daylight hours (a sea trout angler's must-have), and we've also developed a new risk assessment and fishing map to address concerns raised by our landlord. On top of all this, we've managed to secure a small discount on our rent.

We'll share some revised documents on this public page, but the committee are also working on a members-only resource where specific club documents can be accessed. Watch this space.

For now, here's an updated map of the fishings, showing parking locations, access points and overhead hazards.

Hi folks, just a brief update...

Negotiations on our new lease from FLS are progressing well, with a revised 10-year lease drafted. The lease requires our public liability cover to increase from £1m to £5m (not unusual), so this also means we're obtaining new insurance quotes. I hope to be able to complete all this by the end of May.

In the meantime, did you know that the club owns the fishing rights for the Goil estuary too (that’s all the way from the Lettermay Burn, around to the Jetty, and up the river to the road bridge)? Some current club members may remember us buying the netting rights in 1993 and promptly (rightly) banning all netting activity.

Anyone fishing for Salmon and Sea Trout in these areas requires a club permit 🙂
