Mindset Monday

Anyone who has achieved anything great did so by first believing that they could.
Not just with words but with thoughts, feelings and visualising that they could do it before hand.

This includes Arnold Schwarzeneger being the best bodybuilder, then action star.

Roger Bannister running a 4 minute mile.

Alexander Graham Bell inventing the phone.

All these and many many more first believed they could with absolutely certainty that they could achieve there goal.

What do you believe you can do?

You can't possibly hope to change or improve the world around you if you don't believe you can.

Thinking of hiring a coach?
Will it guarantee results?
Are you serious about making a change?

These are 3 questions that you should ask.
Hiring a coach can help relieve you of the stress of how much to eat and how to train.

Results are not guaranteed, you yourself still need to put in the work.

If you aren't serious then you'll likely feel great the first week, have a glass of wine and a takeaway on Saturday and decide screw it and then give up rather than refocusing your goals. (I'm not saying dont have social events or things like that)

A fitness journey is exactly that, a journey. Something that takes time, effort and commitment.

Ask yourself these questions before getting started.

If you fit into this category. Get in touch.

Some low intense cardio this morning. Been struggling to walk much less run since getting injured playing football 6 weeks ago. No need for any to intense or high impact, consistency was key, followed by some core and arms

Its been a busy year competition wise.
Having had a few at the start of the year, one in July,  some minor health issues which resulted in me having to reduce my training causing me to miss June's Spartan Race.
I've got 2 coming up over the next few weeks, Maxim-Ten and Hyrox sim the following week.

Training has been good, it is tough trying to balance out the different types of training and what's needed for different events as only 3-4 exercises crossed over. This on top of my strength work which has taken a bit of a back seat, although I've maintained and improved in some areas especially while having problems pressing and lifting my left.

These two will likely be my last 2 of the year unless something comes up, im already booked in for one next year, just waiting for the others to go on sale, those I've not done yet.

It's been a fairly physically demanding few weeks, not just the events themselves but the recovery after and trying to maintain my training in between each event. Definitely improvements to be made as there always will be. 9 weeks till the next event, back in training tomorrow.

3rd time taking part in Glasgow.
Fastest time so far of 1hour 22.52, beating my previous by about 30 minutes and my sim time from a month ago by about 20 minutes. No hamstring cramps this time and ankle problems either 😁.

Christmas/festive Eating

Many of us who have been working hard to improve our physical and mental shape are likely to panic with Christmas coming up.
Worrying about all your hard earned gains disappearing overnight when you devour every pig n blanket, mince pie and chocolate log, not to mention the turkey itself of course.

DON'T PANIC!!
You will not gain 5 lbs from this one day, not unless you consume 17500 calories, it just won't happen. You're more than like going to retain a lot of water, which is normal, so don't panic.

My advice and 3 things I'll be doing?

1. Enjoying the extra food and making sure I still hit my protein goal, turkey means a lot of protein so enjoy it...along with pigs in a blanket and chocolate cake.

2. Enjoy the time off to rest, recover and socialise with friends and family.

3. Still train. Keep yourself accountable by doing some form of training, it doesn't have to be a long workout but do something. Keep it simple and effective. I won't be changing from the plan too much as I enjoy training and have a few fitness goals and events for next year to give me something to focus on

Time Commitment

When starting out on anything new and especially when it comes to training we often worry about how much time we need to commit to in order to see results or progress.
Many people think they NEED to spend hours and hours per day in order to see results, this isn't true, obviously there are caveats depending or your goals and what you're training for ie preparing for a marathon, tri athlons and other long sporting events.
What I mean is that you can absolutely see results doing 20-30 minute workouts daily, even if that is too much for you, you can break that down into 3x 10 minute workouts. These workouts might not be the most glamorous or fancy workouts but they can be simple and effective and it is at least a start and gets you in the habit of doing it.

We are all different with different things and priorities in our lives and I know it's easy for me to say about making time when I'm alone and don't have the same family commitments, I get that. Prioritising your health should be high in your list for not only you but for your family.

To be a bit blunt about it, if starting your fitness journey is important to you, then you'll find the time.
