Progressive programming gets the results, Elliott will be loading 100kg next week when we test his 1RM’s. We set the target of squatting this before he turns 14 so he will hopefully be hitting it 7 months ahead of schedule.
He has a mock comp to look forward to in December thanks to as he can’t compete officially till he turns 14.
Squats tonight; 85kg x2 followed by 75kg 3 sets of 5, the powerlifting side of the gym is booming right now with a fair few newbies ready to take the platform this year and early next year, a testament to what we’ve put in place to allow each and every one of them to reach their potential.

Guys this isn’t on, I’m receiving complaints all the time about weights getting left on machines and now your just throwing them on the ground.
I had to clear 5 machines this morning before I could train.

Elliott deadlifting his top set of 105kg x2 for last nights work, working hard on improving his hip position prior to pushing the floor away . Puts the effort in every session and can’t ask any more of him, at 13 he’s starting early on a journey not just to a healthy lifestyle but also to become a strong M**O and we couldn’t be any prouder of him.
The 3 parts of Aeternum(Strength, CrossFit and Hyrox) do so much to get kids moving in a structured manner and it’s a testament to the gym as a whole that we offer these sessions.

Next generation of Powerlifter making light work of his top set of squats tonight, 70kg x2 followed by speed reps at 60kg.
Just turned 13 so can’t compete till next year but under the watchful eye of his dad he’ll be ready to represent the gym to the best of his abilities 💙🖤

Members can we please leave these timers plugged in, they are set to go off during the night between 22.00 and 05.00 so need to stay plugged in so the fans aren’t running continuously . I’ve added switches onto the fans if you need to turn them off at any point.

Thanks

Crocs are typically banned in gyms due to safety, hygiene, and liability concerns. They are not considered proper athletic footwear because they lack necessary structural stability, provide poor ankle support, and have a high risk of causing slips or trips, even in “sport mode”.
Why Crocs Aren’t Allowed in the Gym:
Safety & Injury Risk: The foam construction is unstable, which can lead to ankle rolls, while the loose design makes them easy to slip off during movement, increasing the risk of falling during exercises or tripping, according to Facebook posts from gym users.
Lack of Support: They lack the heel stability, midfoot support, and secure fit required for lifting weights, running, or high-intensity training, as noted by RFA Physical Therapy.
Not Closed-Toe: Many gyms require fully enclosed shoes to protect feet from dropped weights or equipment.
Hygiene & Function: They are considered recovery or casual footwear, not training gear, and do not provide the necessary, firm, and secure connection to the ground needed for lifting.
Insurance/Policy: Most commercial gyms have policies prohibiting sandals, flip-flops, or open-backed shoes for insurance reasons, according to Don’s Do Fitness.
For a safe and effective workout, it is recommended to wear proper athletic or lifting shoes.

New kit day, most of you will notice the space for the last couple of weeks, it was decided that the decline bench was very rarely getting used and as such we have replaced it with a pec deck/rear delt machine which we know will get used all the time.
As we are a small gym we want to make sure every bit of kit gets used and used well 💙🖤
