European Championship Weekend 🏁

Where do I even start… what a weekend.

Three days at the track for my first big 2.0 Hot Rod Championship meeting, racing alongside some seriously talented drivers from Ireland and England.

Friday – Practice
First time out in a bigger field with some seriously quick cars and drivers, so Friday was all about getting laps in and building confidence. The car felt good, the pace was there, and we were happy heading into the weekend.

Saturday – Qualifying
Three hard-fought qualifying races with some really quick, clean racing. The pace was good all weekend and I managed to qualify 15th for the European.

Sunday – The European Championship
What an experience. I gave it everything and managed to finish 10th out of 18 drivers against some of the best out there. Something I’m genuinely really proud of. To come away with that result in my first European Championship.

Then came the All Comers race… and honestly, what a race it was.

Starting 4th on the grid, I managed to get my way up into 3rd place and was absolutely flying. I held onto 3rd for 14 laps, felt so comfortable in the car... everything was just clicking.

Unfortunately, with only a few laps to go, contact from behind turned the car into the wall which caused some pretty big damage and meant a wee trip to the medics (thankfully only a sprained finger 😅).

Guttting way to end the weekend and sadly meant missing out on the Scottish Open, but despite the damage, this weekend was brilliant and such a massive learning experience for me. I’m really happy with how it all went and I’ve come away even more determined to keep pushing and improving.

A massive thank you to everyone who helps get me to the track and supports me every step of the way. None of this happens without you.

The car will be fixed, and we’ve actually got some exciting news to announce in the coming weeks 👀 but for now… it’s repair time 🔧

🏁 European Championship Weekend — 9/10 May 🏁

This weekend is a big one... my first major championship weekend in the 2.0s.

Friday — Practice

Saturday — Qualifying Day

Position randomly pulled out of a hat, three qualifying heats across the day to set the grid for Sunday.

Sunday — Race Day

* European
* Scottish Open
* All Comers
A full day of hard racing against some of the best 2.0 drivers.

A Massive Thank You

None of this happens without the people behind me.

Scott — for the endless hours spent on the car, and for getting it back into one piece after the last meeting. The work you put in is incomparable.

My mum & sister — for the support on and off the track. Mum keeps the team funds and morale running smoothly, and my sister put a huge amount into helping us buy the car in the first place. I wouldn’t be on this grid without you both.

My grandad — who got me my first ever sponsor and has loaned us his Insta360 to test out this weekend. Always backing me.

And to all my sponsors for sticking with me these past few years, especially DD Motors, who have given us incredible guidance. Your belief in me means everything.

Tough day on track, but plenty to take away.

Race 1: Finished P6. A difficult start with a change in race communications meant we didn’t get the usual cue, and from our grid position it made things a bit more challenging off the line. Thankfully nothing bad happened with all drivers avoiding incidents.

Race 2: Unfortunately ended in a DNF. The pace was good and the car felt the best it has all day. I was in a great battle defending against multiple cars, including the reigning 2.0 world champion. Mid-race contact from behind sent me into another car and then the kerbs, causing significant damage. I managed to get the car off safely, but the damage meant we couldn’t continue.

Race 3: DNS due to the damage sustained earlier.

On the positive side, I’m okay just a bit battered and bruised but nothing serious.

Not every race weekend goes your way, and this is one of those. We’ll regroup, reset, and come back stronger.

Big thanks to Mooney for towing us to and from the track and for all the coaching advice, it makes a real difference.

Massive thank you to all of my sponsors for your continued support... none of this would be possible without you. Your backing means everything and allows us to keep pushing forward every race weekend.

Now full focus on the big championship weekend:
