Gunn trophy with a difference ?
Over the years we have frequently had 5 or more teams consisting of 3 toppers each, this year we only had 5 sailors in total but all eager to show off their sailing skills. The committee boat arrived and anchored next to the proposed course and much to the dismay of those on shore surrounded by midges decided that the 20+knots of wind further out would prove to be a problem.

A brief soup and rolls sojourn was arranged and a series of sprint races starting from the shore were organised. These were hotly contested and provided much fun for the spectators as the competitors performed some exciting capsizes during the mark roundings.
Eager for more the inevitable bin bags used as sail races took place, not sure how colregs would have managed this ? Timed speed capsizing and righting proved to be very popular and i think all would be happy to be out there until it got dark.

Hot chocolate and cake followed and with no clear champion everyone's a winner was the order of the day.
To celebrate their achievements each received a goody bag and generous voucher from the Lochcarron Food Centre - SPAR Lochcarron to whom we are grateful.
Thanks to all who made today a memorable event. You all know who you are.
Thanks to all who have forwarded photos which are being arranged and will be posted soon.

Thursday Sailing was a lively one tonight! With a Force 5+ blowing and some pretty heavy showers coming through, we had 12 of our younger sailors out making the most of it.

There were some fast and furious joyrides in the Quest, while teams of three took to the Toppers for some highly competitive bin bag racing! No sails, just a bin bag each, there was plenty of fun had and everyone was in high spirits upon returning to shore.

A big thank you to our two rescue boat crews and to everyone on shore who helped out and got the hot chocolates ready! ⛵

Sunday Sailing was a great morning to be on the loch, with 10 boats and 12 sailors out. 7 Toppers, a Fusion, an ISO and a Quest. The Toppers were getting some good practice in ahead of the Gunn Trophy next weekend.

There wasn't much wind about, but a light and changeable north-easterly breeze made for some interesting racing. There was a very strong tide on the upwind leg, with everyone sailing several times the actual distance as the tide kept pushing them back. Some tricky sailing, but everyone did really well!

We then rafted the boats together for some games, followed by some capsize practice before heading ashore. Thanks to rescue boat, shore duty and everyone who came along and helped out. ⛵
