💙💛 MATCH REPORT | U12 LEGENDS 💛💙
A massive thank you to everyone who came down to support the boys today, especially in the drizzle. Your support is always appreciated! 👏⚽
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the result we were looking for as we went down 4–2 to Cogan.
The first half was excellent. The boys played some really good football, worked hard for each other and showed plenty of quality. After going a goal behind, they showed great character to turn things around and go into half-time 2–1 ahead. 🙌
Unfortunately, the second half was one to forget. The boys looked tired and, at times, lost their way. More importantly, we stopped playing for each other and didn’t show the fight, desire and intensity needed to get the result. As coaches, that was disappointing to see.
We won’t win every game, but the lads have to fight, work for each other and give everything they’ve got. Today, particularly in the second half, we didn’t do that.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom, though. Cody Evans was excellent in goal, making some important saves and his distribution was absolutely on point. 👏 Charlie Hatch, when he came on, also made a big impact and showed plenty of energy.
There were also plenty of positives to take from that first-half performance. We know exactly what we need to work on now — fitness, concentration, intensity and working for each other for the full 70 minutes.
Thankfully, it was only a friendly, so no damage done. This is exactly what pre-season is all about. The lads need to use today as a learning experience, work hard in training and get themselves primed and ready for the league fixtures next weekend. 🔥
Heads up, work hard and come back stronger. 💪
