🏉 U11s Recruiting for Season 2026-27! 🏉

Our Llanharan RFC U11s are heading into next season stronger than ever, and we’re looking to welcome a few more players into our growing squad!

Whether you’re completely new to rugby, looking for a fresh challenge, or simply want more opportunities to play and develop, we’d love to hear from you.

At Llanharan RFC M&J, we’re proud of the environment we’ve built. Our players support one another, our coaches are WRU qualified and passionate about development, and our parents create a fantastic community around the team.

Most importantly, we believe rugby should be about teamwork, friendship, confidence, and having fun while learning the game.

Llanharan U12s Show Grit and Class at Pencoed Festival 🏉

The Under 12s made the short journey to Pencoed for what has become a customary bookend to the rugby season. It was a day defined by high-quality rugby, local rivalry, and a resilient team spirit that saw the boys remain competitive until the final whistle.

A Clinical Start
The tournament opened with a standout performance against a strong Rhiwbina side. Llanharan dominated the encounter with precise ball movement and clinical finishing, securing a comfortable victory. It was a disciplined start that set a high standard for the games to follow.

The Local Derby
What followed was a hotly contested local derby against hosts Pencoed. Playing against a stiff wind, Llanharan initially struggled to clear their lines, allowing Pencoed to take an early lead. However, the "Dairymen" responded immediately with direct, powerful running to level the scores.

In the closing stages, it appeared Llanharan had snatched the win after crashing over for a late try. However, a turnover scrum deep in our own territory allowed Pencoed to score with the final play of the game, resulting in a hard-fought draw. Despite the late equalizer, Llanharan’s performance was enough to see them progress as the top-seeded team.

Testing the Unbeaten
The next phase brought a significant challenge: Haverfordwest, a side that had gone the entire season undefeated. The West Wales outfit struck first with slick hands, but Llanharan responded with a flowing counter-attack to level. Haverfordwest again reclaimed the lead through sustained pressure, but the Black and Blues refused to buckle.

Showcasing their trademark "never say die" attitude, the boys utilized ferocious work at the breakdown and desperate defense to stay in the hunt. With the clock in the red, a clinical backs move sliced through the Haverfordwest defense to secure a draw in the final play—a testament to the team's composure under pressure.

A Premature End
Entering the final game against Rumney, the math was clear: the boys needed to score quickly to overcome a five-try advantage held by Haverfordwest. Llanharan took full control of the match, establishing a two-try lead through dominant play. Unfortunately, the game was brought to a premature end following a significant injury to a Rumney player. We wish the player a swift recovery.

Season Reflection
This successful end to the campaign offers a glimpse into an extremely bright future for this group of players. The coaching staff would like to extend a sincere thank you to both the players and parents for their unwavering commitment throughout the year. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch this team develop. 🖤💙

Llanharan U12s Secure Plate Success at Burry Port 🏉

Llanharan Under 12s traveled to the Burry Port Festival this weekend to compete in their first-ever 7s tournament. It proved to be a day of high-intensity rugby and a steep learning curve for the young squad.

A Physical Opening
The tournament began with a significant challenge against a powerful Liverpool side. Facing a major size deficit—with several opposition players literally towering over the official—the boys put in a resilient performance. It remained a close-run contest for the majority of the match, but the physical toll told in the closing stages, resulting in a narrow opening loss for the Black and Blues.

Momentum Shifts
The squad adapted quickly to the 7s format following the opener. The boys began to find their rhythm, producing some excellent, flowing rugby and clinical finishing. Combining expansive attacking play with disciplined, ferocious defense, Llanharan secured vital wins over hosts Burry Port and Pontypridd Red. These results earned them a second-place finish in the group and a spot in the Plate Final.

The Plate Final: Clinical Composure
In a fitting conclusion to the day, the boys faced a second Liverpudlian team for the silverware. The final was a tense, gritty affair, but Llanharan’s "heart and guts" allowed them to build a hard-earned lead by half-time.

A quick try from the tourists after the interval cut the deficit and set up a pressured finale. However, the Black and Blues maintained their discipline under fire, eventually scoring a decisive breakaway try to seal the victory and the Plate trophy.

Acknowledgments
A massive thank you to Burry Port RFC for organizing and hosting a superbly run tournament. It was an excellent experience for the players and a proud day for the club.

Sunday saw us host our 2nd Minifest in as many years and boy did it deliver!

We welcomed 17 clubs, 22 teams to the Welfare & Dairyfield, creating a truly amazing day of rugby.

We have so many thank you’s and shout outs.

Firstly to the clubs. Thank you for choosing us this year. You added to what was a fantastic day, each impeccable throughout.

Our brilliant businesses who are tagged below and attached. You provided us with amazing food, entertainment and facilities. Thank you so much.

The LRGT for the use of the welfare field for the day, free of charge! That means a massive amount to us so thank you! And Llanharan RFC for the Dairyfield.

Last but not least, our event organisers, our brilliant volunteers on the day and our wonderful children, parents & Team Managers & Coaches for continuing to smash it out the park week in week out to deliver best in class experiences for our children! It doesn’t go unnoticed.

Minifest 26 was incredible, and we are already excited for 27!!
