Or even those who've never bowled before and would like to learn. Come along and see what we do. It's free and includes the use of bowls and the use of bowling aids. Tea and coffee are served .
If interested please contact Jo And Martyn on 07955143979 . Everyone welcome

The green had a winter cut yesterday and looks, and plays, very well.

The newly planted flowers are shooting up in the boxes and will be a lovely, colourful, addition

There was even a superb sunset to capture from the green.

With the summer music festival now taking shape around the traditional Eisteddfod and the events regularly staged by the RAFA club itself, the exciting times are set to continue.

Photographs taken today, October 17th.

The green continues to be cut, and remains open, during the autumn, and even the winter, subject to necessary treatments and being in a condition which reasonably allows play given weather conditions at any particular time.

In spite of yesterday's deluge, play is perfectly possible today as the green drains especially well.

The planters in the photographs are now being filled with flowers beyond which a narrow boat can be seen passing gently by.

Here are some up to date photos of the green and it's surrounds. The works have been progressing and, at the canal end, we now have a new wider path for access to the benches for spectators, backed by a new metal fence, and new gates, all of which provide much improved access and comfort for persons with physical disabilities including wheelchair users. Between each bench, flower boxes have recently been installed which will soon sport a variety of beautiful plants.

The green itself looks, and plays, extremely well following the winter re-seeding and the area for covered seating is not only fully repaired following storm damage but is now used to advertise local businesses with whom we have sponsorship arrangements.

We have just taken possession of a brand new, top of the range, mower which will further enhance the quality of the green.

Alongside the considerable success of the RAFA club which is flourishing with musical and comedy entertainment, accomodating many local events, and activities, and providing the perfect supplement to the recent concerts surrounding the traditional Eisteddfod, these really are exciting times.

We are attracting new members and continue to warmly welcome anyone who may wish to play bowls, or at least try it out, in addition to enjoying the beautiful surrounds and the facilities and events of the RAFA club.

Do come and say hello as it would be lovely to meet you.

In spite of the wet weather, the outdoor bowls season has begun and local league matches started this week.

We have been busy carrying out works with a view to significantly improving access to, and around, the green, and have completed the necessary repairs to the covered area following storm damage to the roof in January. In addition, the green itself has been reseeded and we are delighted with how well it looks and is playing. To supplement this, we are privileged to have been awarded a grant by Denbighshire Leisure Limited with a large portion of those monies allocated to the purchase of a brand new, high quality, sports mower which will be completed shortly. The remainder of the grant, together with sponsorship monies we have very generously received from a number of businesses within the town, is being used to fund the above-mentioned improvements around the green and the purchase of equipment to support persons with physical disabilities in playing the sport of bowls.

We are very pleased that we already have a number of new members this season and would really welcome further members of all ages, experience, and abilities, including those who wish to play on a purely social basis, or not play at all,.as the case may be. We will be delighted to offer support to those who wish to receive it to learn about the sport and arrange the loan of bowls sets etc..

If you are interested in joining us, please do get in touch and/or visit us when members who are present will be happy to assist. In that regard, it is worth noting that league matches on the green will now be taking place every Tuesday evening at 7pm, as well as fixtures regularly scheduled on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, throughout the spring and summer.

For the information of those who may be interested in trying out the sport of crown green bowling, we possess spare sets of bowls which can be hired out free of charge and members who will be delighted to offer general guidance and useful tips.

Should anyone wish to become a member of our bowling club, the annual subscription rate is £10 for those who wish to play on a purely non-competitive, recreational, basis.

In the case of members who play competitive league bowls, the annual rate is £45 because of the fees which the club has to pay to the Leagues concerned. We exercise discretion as to whether the full £45 is appropriate dependent on the regularity individual members actually play in matches.

In addition to each of the two above subscriptions, whichever is payable, there is also a requirement to be an associate member of the Royal Air Force Association which has the benefit of being able to enjoy the facilities of the Association social club as well as, of course, contributing to the charity. The annual rate of this subscription is £18.

Should anybody wish to pursue membership, or have any queries, do feel free to contact us using the details published on this page.

We are a crown green bowling club located in a stunning location within the beautiful town of Llangollen. We are affiliated to the local branch of the Royal Air Force Association, the green being situated directly next to the social club.
We actively encourage new members, of all ages and abilities, including young people and persons with disabilities. We are also happy for visitors to the area to play on the green by prior arrangement.
For those who wish to play competitively, and not merely as recreation, we have teams playing in local leagues throughout the spring and the summer.
If you are interested in joining us, please do get in touch.
