In spite of the wet weather, the outdoor bowls season has begun and local league matches started this week.
We have been busy carrying out works with a view to significantly improving access to, and around, the green, and have completed the necessary repairs to the covered area following storm damage to the roof in January. In addition, the green itself has been reseeded and we are delighted with how well it looks and is playing. To supplement this, we are privileged to have been awarded a grant by Denbighshire Leisure Limited with a large portion of those monies allocated to the purchase of a brand new, high quality, sports mower which will be completed shortly. The remainder of the grant, together with sponsorship monies we have very generously received from a number of businesses within the town, is being used to fund the above-mentioned improvements around the green and the purchase of equipment to support persons with physical disabilities in playing the sport of bowls.
We are very pleased that we already have a number of new members this season and would really welcome further members of all ages, experience, and abilities, including those who wish to play on a purely social basis, or not play at all,.as the case may be. We will be delighted to offer support to those who wish to receive it to learn about the sport and arrange the loan of bowls sets etc..
If you are interested in joining us, please do get in touch and/or visit us when members who are present will be happy to assist. In that regard, it is worth noting that league matches on the green will now be taking place every Tuesday evening at 7pm, as well as fixtures regularly scheduled on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, throughout the spring and summer.
