Yesterday, Sanshirokwai was proud to host the 3rd Annual Welsh Closed Kata Championships.

The standard was incredibly high, with fantastic kata on display throughout the day. A huge well done to everyone who took part! 👏🤩

A big thank you to all the participating clubs, officials and volunteers for their support and for helping make the day such a success.

It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Jeff Keenan, a larger-than-life character with a gentle heart.

After years playing rugby, Jeff took up judo at the Ann Street dojo under Sensei Steadman Davies and, in later years, yoga. Holding the grade of 2nd Dan, Jeff was an avid competitor, winning the prestigious Arthur Lott Trophy three consecutive times. A lesser-known fact is that he was part of a line-up that faced the 1964 Olympic Openweight Champion, Anton Geesink of the Netherlands, during the 1960s.

Jeff was a huge part of the club, and we shared many wonderful memories with him. He will be sorely missed by all.
