⚽💙 Thank You, Albies! 💙⚽

What a fantastic day we had yesterday at the Annual Festival!

Year after year, this tournament proves why it’s one of the very best around. The organisation is always outstanding, the atmosphere is brilliant, and most importantly, the kids absolutely love every minute of it.

A huge thank you to everyone at Albies and all of the volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes to make the day run so smoothly. Events like these don’t happen without a tremendous amount of dedication, and it really shows.

We’d also like to give a special mention to the young Albies players we saw throughout the day. Whether they were helping collect rubbish, chatting politely with visitors, or simply making everyone feel welcome, they were a credit to themselves, and the club.

Football festivals are about much more than results, and yesterday was a perfect example of that. A wonderful day enjoyed by players, coaches, and families alike.

Thank you, Albies – we can’t wait to come back next year!

Our young Bluebirds were at the Seaside Festival today, kicking off what promises to be a brilliant summer of football festivals!

Another fantastic day full of smiles, teamwork, energy, and plenty of football fun.

So proud of how these youngsters continue to grow in confidence every time they step onto the pitch.

This weekend, something special happened.

Across pitches filled with energy and noise, the game paused… not out of routine, but out of respect.

Teams stood together.
Coaches, parents, and supporters stood side by side.
And for one minute, everything fell silent in honour of Mike Long.

It was a powerful reminder of what this community truly is, not just a club, but a family.

The respect shown was immense.
The impact was felt by everyone there.

And we know one thing for certain… Mike’s family would be incredibly proud.

With great sadness, everyone at Dafen Welfare AFC is mourning the loss of Mike Long.

Mike was far more than just a coach, he was a mentor, a leader, and a huge part of our club for over 30 years. From managing teams and serving on the committee to refereeing and always helping wherever needed, Mike gave so much to Dafen.

He made a lasting impact on so many young players, teaching not just football, but important life lessons, resilience, teamwork, and belief. His encouragement and presence on the sidelines meant everything to those he coached and will never be forgotten.

Even while battling illness, Mike continued to support the club, a true reflection of his character and dedication.

Our thoughts are with Jackie and all of Mike’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

Mike’s funeral will take place at 11am on Tuesday 12th May at Llanelli Crematorium.

Rest peacefully, Mike. You will be deeply missed. 💙

⚽️💙 Another Night, Another Friendly 💙⚽️

Our U10s were back in action with another great evening of football, this time against the brilliant players of at Coleg Sir Gâr.

It was fantastic to see both teams enjoying the game, playing with smiles on their faces and showing exactly what grassroots football is all about… fun, friendship and a love for the beautiful game.

A big thank you to Albies for a great match and to all the coaches and parents for making these opportunities possible for the players.

Plenty more memories being made!
