Congratulations to the Welsh Ladies International Fly Fishing Team on their Silver medal at the 2026 International at Rutland water 🥈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🎣👏
The weather was horrific to say the least but the ladies worked hard on the practice days, made a fantastic team and had a brilliant time!

I’d like to thank everyone at Garnffrwd who has been rooting for me over the last couple of months - your support and words of encouragement are worth more than I can say.
I fished alongside some truly fantastic women, not just in the Welsh team but across the other nations too. What an honour it has been.
There were tears, there was a huge amount of laughter and there were most definitely smiles!

One of our regulars has upped his game a little and bought this stunning tent and camping accessories🏕️ so now his fiancée can join him - he gets an entire weekend at Garnffrwd and gets the most of the evening rise and she gets a little break away in a stunning setting 👌 win:win 🎣

What a brilliant fundraising day for the Welsh Ladies International Team 👏 Massive thanks to every single person who bought and donated tickets & prizes, and to those who attended today. Support from local businesses, suppliers and followers has been phenomenal. We raised over £1,200 for the Ladies Team - a fantastic amount! Our ‘find a fish’ will be drawn early next week so fingers crossed for those who have purchased squares.
Mark Thomas took 1st place🥇, Nathan Jeffries came 2nd🥈, and 3rd🥉 place was awarded to Steve James 🎣👏

Saturday 9th May: Fundraiser for the Welsh Ladies International Fly Fishing Team.
The raffle is looking great already - please bring any more raffle donations with you tomorrow. The draw will take place from 3:30 after the competition along with a BBQ.

For those fishing the competition: Bacon rolls will be served from 8am with rules and peg draw. The competition will be kicking off at 9am.
We will have a half hours break for some lunch (please note the cafe will only be open for drinks so please bring a sandwich). At the end of the competition we will have burgers and sausages available to purchase from the BBQ so non-fishing guests are more than welcome.

The Team and the fishery thank you for your support!!

We still have a few places left for this fundraiser on Saturday - there’s also raffle tickets on sale at £1 per ticket, and the fundraising BBQ following the competition.
We’ll also be holding an envelope raffle @ £5 per envelope - the prize for this is one of the new Snowbee 9ft #6 tubed kits RRP £170! (kindly purchased and donated by one of our regulars here!)
If you can’t make it along but would like to buy raffle tickets/envelopes then let us know and we can sort this for you.

Plenty of fish rising this evening 🎣👌 There’s definitely something satisfying about a catch on a dry fly - we’re open until sunset so why not have a few hours after work…

Please note the fishery & cafe will be closed on Saturday 9th May for a fundraising event (a floating line competition raising funds for the Ladies Welsh International Team - there are still a couple of places left so give us a call if you'd like to take part). The competition will be followed by a BBQ which is open to all (including non-competitors) with raffle draw from 4pm so please pop down.

The fishery & cafe will also be closed on Saturday 16th May for a private group booking.

First Cap 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Yesterday our very own Danni, and regular at Garnffrwd Jayne Shorten, fished their first competition as part of the Welsh Ladies International Fly Fishing Team following which they were presented with their first caps - what an honour!
They fished the absolutely stunning Llyn Trawsfynydd for the Interteams competition and had a great day. Danni even managed to get the biggest fish of the day! Next stop Rutland in June 🎣💪
