If you're starting your taper for Ironman Wales, here's your reminder - You are not supposed to be gaining fitness now. The work is done.
And over the next couple of weeks, you might feel restless. You might feel like you're not doing enough. Your legs might even feel heavier than expected.
That doesn't mean you're losing fitness.
One of the hardest parts of tapering is trusting that doing less is actually part of the process. You don't lose months of consistent training in a week or two.
Right now, the goal isn't to squeeze in one last big session or prove your fitness.
It's to absorb the training. To recover. And to arrive on that start line fresh enough to actually show what you've built over the last few months.
Trust the taper.
Trust the work.
And try not to let taper madness convince you to do something stupid😂
