π€© Wow, what a weekend! π€© π
What started as a passing comment just a few months ago about the lack of Level 3 long course meets offering a full programme of events, including long-distance races, outside of North Wales, became a reality this weekend as we hosted our first EVER Long Course Summer Meet β and we honestly couldnβt have asked for it to go any better.
There are so many people to thank. A huge thank you to all the incredible coaches and officials for giving up countless hours of their free time poolside- we really do appreciate you allβΊοΈ
To all of our amazing volunteers and marshals, thank you for keeping everything running smoothly and ensuring every swimmer made it to the blocks. So much work goes on behind the scenes, and we are incredibly grateful to every single person involved.
A special thank you to:
β’ Lifestyles Liverpool Aquatics Centreand your incredible staff for letting us host our meet.
β’NE Swimwear www.NE-sportswear.com for donating the fantastic hot heat prizes, Top Team Trophy and being our amazing pop up swim sports shop.
β’Heritage Living Ltd for providing all the yummy and tasty goods for the tuck shop.
β’ Autotop Signs for all our beautiful feather flags and poolside banner.
β’ Four Seasons Catering for the delicious food for all our officials , coaches and volunteers.
We would also like to say a massive thank you to our amazing sponsors, J J Jones ( wholesale) coal merchants ltd, Fix Auto Colwyn Bay and KWJ Building & Civils whose support helped make this event possible.
A special Thank- You to Alex, our fantastic announcer, and to Paul and Thomas in the timing booth, who ensured every session, every heat and every race ran smoothly - π
A massive thank you also goes to all of the clubs who travelled all across the UK ,from Tyneside to Edinburgh, the Isle of Man and everywhere in between. Thank you for supporting our meet and for helping to make it such a fantastic weekend. Your swimmers are a credit to you all, and it was a pleasure to welcome you.
And finally, thank you to all of the parents and spectators. Without your continued support, we simply wouldnβt have a gala.
To see months of planning come together and to watch so many swimmers enjoying themselves, smiling , laughing and achieving personal bests, but most importantly making those all Important memories was truly special. Seeing swimmers compete in everything from the sprints right through to the long-distance events that inspired this meet in the first place made all the hard work worthwhile.
The success of this inaugural meet means that our Long Course Summer Meet has now earned its place on the gala calendar and will become an annual event! π We canβt wait to welcome everyone back next year and continue building what we hope will become one of the highlights of the swimming calendar.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making our first Long Course Summer Meet such a success. Hereβs to many more!
Love from the Swim Conwy Family πββοΈβοΈ π π
