Conwy Mind 3 Peaks Challenge ⛰️🚶🩷

What a an amazing turn out for today’s fundraiser 🙌

Well done to everyone taking part today - it’s been a hot and humid day & there will be some sore feet needing a little soak and tlc tonight 🥰

All participants are challenging themselves to raise all important funds to help this amazing charity continue offer invaluable support!

“Together through Menopause”

Peri to post menopause can increase vulnerability to depression and anxiety alongside other symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances and brain fog, to name but a few.

Experiences can vary person to person and this can prove to be an unsettling time for some.

Conwy Mind will be setting up a menopause support group “Together through Menopause” and welcome your thoughts, experiences and suggestions on what you would like to see provided to better support individuals during and after this transitional phase.

🖤 Small Steps - Big Impact! 🙌

Never underestimate just how much your daily activity can impact on your health and fitness!

It always pays to be on the lookout for little ways to move more 🤩

Here are 10 simple suggestions to get you going:

1. Take the stairs

2. Stand instead of sitting

3. Do some stretches while watching TV instead of sitting still

4. Incorporate a 10 minute walk into every lunch break - indoors if it’s raining and up stairs for extra benefit 😉

5. Play outside with the kids

6. Power walk or run as your kids ride their bikes

7. Do Squats, lunges or calf raises while - waiting for the kettle to boil; food to cook; brushing teeth

8. When you feel bored, frustrated & ready to reach for a snack - take a walk, put some music on and dance for 10 minutes, or power up and down some stairs.

9. Instead of making piles around the house of things to tidy up - return them right away - you’d be surprised how quickly this racks up your step count 😉

10. Aim to increase your daily steps - if you don’t have a step counter use a measuring point like “a walk in your favourite park every day if you can”

Ever notice how worries, frustration, stress, sluggishness and low mood lift after a good bout of exercise?

You’re enjoying the post exercise buzz caused by chemical reactions in your brain - which feels pretty amazing!

Not only that you’re distracting yourself from any worries and stressors while you concentrate on the task at hand - which can help you gain clarity and perspective!

When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and can also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine.

Try to aim for at least 30 minutes of activity a day.

It doesn’t have to be structured exercise, it can be something, fun that you enjoy - like gardening, playing with your children / grandchildren / dog, heading out for a walk or a stroll, or putting the music on and dancing while you do the housework 😊

How Peri menopause / Menopause affects the brain 🧠

Fascinating, empowering & validating by neuroscientist Lisa Mosconi (2019)

Explaining the transformative processes occurring in the brain during peri to post menopause as reproductive hormones decline.

Research showing a 30% drop in brain energy iin menopausal women (regardless of what age this occurs) which may suggest that “a women’s brain is more susceptible to hormonal ageing during midlife than just chronological ageing”

So many women FEEL these changes! You are not going crazy - your brain is not playing tricks on you 💜

However this drop does not mean we are underperforming 👊

Research shows no difference in cognitive performance between men and women ‘before - or after menopause’

“We may be tired - but we’re just as sharp”

Feeling like you need a bit of a fitness & healthy lifestyle kickstart after the summer holidays?

You’re not alone - so many ladies I’ve spoken to recently feel the same so I’m running a 5 Week Kickstart to help get you out of a funk 😉

This is for busy mums and women who don’t want to go to a gym nor have time to get out to classes

It’ll be an opportunity to reset your focus on regular exercise, healthier food and lifestyle choices - including your sleep routine 😉

It’s not a 5 week programme of restriction, a totally unattainable exercise regime and then back to old habits ❌

This is about pulling yours actions back in line with your goals ✔️

An opportunity to focus on you again now the summer is done and the kids are back at school 👌

This is about exercising to feel good, eating healthier and snacking less to balance your energy, your mood and your sugar cravings.

This is about getting into a better routine with sleep to help you stay focused (good bye post summer brain fog) and generally feel better in yourself 😊

And hey - if fat loss is one of your goals - after 5 weeks of focusing on all of the above you’ll start to notice a change in your body composition too

You can start any time next week - but no later than
