🏆Aberconwy Trophy🏆

The past weekend saw the 50th Aberconwy Trophy, held between Conwy Golf Club and ourselves. This prestitious competition has attracted some of the very best amateur golfers over the past 50 years, and long may it continue!

This years competition was marred by some wild wind on both days, with all players struggling to get to grips with the blustery conditions.

One man stood tall at the end of the day though, former Maesdu member Shaun Harpin won with a score of 296 (+8) by 3 shots over Oliver Tasker of The Bradford Golf Club in 2nd place, & Paul Reid of The Glamorganshire Golf Club who took home the best Junior Trophy.

Other local scores of note include Jason Spence of Clwb Golff Betws-Y-Coed Golf Club who finished 4th, whilst our own Greg Hardwick & Yousuf Burney finished 26th & 27th respectively.

Congratulations to Shaun, some feat winning the 50th edition of The Aberconwy Trophy, mirroring his dad Lee who won the 25th edition!

Shaun was presented with the trophy by innaugural winner J.R. Jones, Club Captains & Past Captains of both Maesdu & Conwy, and the Mayors of both Llandudno & Conwy aswell!

One last word to thank the staff, and volunteers at both Conwy and Maesdu who work hard to organise, and put on the event, and then work hard over the weekends too!

Congratulations to our mixed team who yesterday advanced to the regional quarter finals of the British Mixed Championship!

"A massive thank you to everyone one who turned up and played in my charity day. I would also like to thank the greens staff, the hospitality staff, my little helpers and last but not least my sponsors and local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle. The weather was fantastic and everyone enjoyed themselves. We managed to raise in excess of £2,500 for St David's Hospice. So again a massive thank you to everyone involved."
