What a wonderful and generous organisation, supporting local communities!

💛COMMUNITY GRANT UPDATE 💛

Every penny from each passport donation goes straight into the Bike & Brew Community Grant fund, turning the power of the motorbike community into practical support where it is needed most❣️

Here is the list of the organisations that we have been able to support so far:

HealthBus Trust £3,000

A mobile charity that provides specialist healthcare to homeless people in the Bournemouth area, which has one of the highest rough sleeping counts in the UK, and a significant homeless population. They provide vital care where it’s needed, on the streets.

Heart Smart Arts £4,000

Delivers creative therapies to provide mental health support to children and adults in the communities of Rye, East Sussex and Ashford, Kent, including local schools in the area.

Hearts In The Stand £1,100

Work with sports clubs, venues, and community groups to deliver CPR workshop and awareness sessions
To ensure that every fan, player, steward, and spectator has the knowledge and feels empowered to perform effective CPR skills in an emergency.

Llandudno Oval Bowling club £5,000

Operates an inclusive and valuable community asset that requires overhaul and updating. Our funding will also allow them to access a further Llandudno Town Council grant.

No5 Young People £5,000
Provide free, confidential mental health support, counselling and outreach for young people aged 11-25 in Berkshire.
An open-access, self-referral service allowing young people and their parents to ask directly for help.

West Berkshire Homeless £5,000

Seeks to eliminate homelessness through provision of short term accommodation. Their mentoring team then helps secure longer term accommodation and work. A befriending service also supports people in many ways including financial assistance, informal advocates at appointments and signposting.

Yatesbury Village Hall £5,000

Funding the re-roofing of this historic building. To allow the continued use
for community events such as quizzes, fêtes, talks and workshops, including for the elderly and/or less mobile.

The ongoing fundraising initiative by Llandudno Oval Bowling Club to refurbish its historic clubhouse received a major boost recently. We were delighted to learn we had been successful in our grant application to the charity ‘Make Your Mark.’ They have awarded LOBC £5,000 which will be used to buy new tables and chairs for the clubhouse.

In supporting our project, they said, “we were particularly pleased to see how your work supports our aim of helping grassroots, volunteer-led, community-based organisations.”

Motorbiker Acts of Random Kindness (MARK) is a UK grassroots movement and registered charity (Make Your Mark) that harnesses the motorcycling community to support mental health and local causes. https://makeyourmark.co.uk/

LOBC is extremely grateful for the generosity and support of the motorbiking community. We hope that when our clubhouse refurbishment project is completed we can welcome visiting motor-bikers for a game of bowls and afternoon tea!

Throughout the season members of the Llandudno U3A have been attending a regular Crown Green Bowling course every Monday morning at Llandudno Oval Bowling club. Club coaches have instructed newbies with the basics of the game and over the period of the course everyone has developed great skills. Last Tuesday the LOBC U3A group hosted a friendly fixture against members of the Eirias Park U3A bowls group. Everyone enjoyed the experience. Next week the LOBC course comes to an end with a final flourish of bowls & cake!

The course will be run again next year commencing in April. Members of the U3A are encouraged to look out for the notices prior to the start of the new season.

Yesterday afternoon, in their final home match of the season our Gwynedd Seniors League team had a fine victory 7-2 against Gwyngyll. The result strengthens our fourth place league position out of thirteen teams. The final match of the season next Tuesday will be played away in Holyhead versus Peibio B.C.

In the Colwyn, Llandudno & District League Llandudno Oval Bowling club ended the season in style with a fine 8-4 victory away at Denbigh. So we finished up in sixth place in Division ‘D’ a slight improvement on last season. It has been really encouraging to see the development of our squad players and their growth in confidence. We are already looking forward to next year!

Victory speech from Francis Penlington (Gresford Colliery) who with his daughter Emily Gowen (Broughton) won the the WCGBA Welsh Mixed Pairs Merit competition at Llandudno Oval Bowling club today.

In glorious weather today, Llandudno Oval Bowling club played host to the WCGBA Welsh Mixed Pairs Merit competition. Twenty five pairs fought it out to claim the title and that honour went to father and daughter pairing Francis Penlington (Gresford Colliery) & Emily Gowen (Broughton). Congratulations to them, the other finalists and semi-finalists who all qualify for the BCGBA finals.

Llandudno Oval Bowling club is delighted to be playing host to the WCGBA Welsh Mixed Pairs Merit Competition Finals this Sunday 23rd August. Matches start at 09.45. Hot & cold refreshments will be available. Spectators welcome.

The last home match of the season for our Colwyn, Llandudno & District league team at Llandudno Oval Bowling club and we suffered a 3-9 defeat to Abergele ‘C’. The displays in the sky were almost as good as those on the green!

Llandudno Oval Bowling club were pleased to host the Colwyn, Llandudno & District League Division A Knock Out Cup Final last night. In overcast conditions Craig y Don ‘A’ defeated Min y Don ‘A’ 180-164 to retain the trophy. Congratulations to both teams. LOBC members were out in force to ensure things ran smoothly, and pick up some tips from the league’s top teams!
