Club Statement: Micro Shin Pads

The club has taken the decision to ban the use of micro shin pads with immediate effect. This decision has not been made lightly and follows careful consideration of player safety, welfare, and our duty of care as a football club.

Micro shin pads offer minimal protection and significantly increase the risk of injury from tackles, accidental contact, and impact during both matches and training. While laws of the game require shin pads to be worn, the club believes that extremely small pads do not meet the practical intent of that requirement, which is to protect players from harm.

As a club, we have a responsibility to create a safe playing environment for all participants. This includes taking preventative action where we believe there is an avoidable risk. Allowing micro shin pads would contradict that responsibility and could place players at unnecessary risk of injury.

This policy applies across all teams and age groups and is designed to protect players, not to restrict them. We encourage all players to wear properly sized, well-fitted shin pads that provide adequate coverage and protection.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved with the club.

Unfortunately, CPD Llanberis took the win and move on to the next round. Congratulations to them, and we wish them all the best going forward.

We’d also like to send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Llanberis player who was injured in the first half – we hope to see you back on the pitch soon. 👏⚽
