Unfortunately, it will not be possible to run Ras Gŵyl Dewi this March. Although we had hoped to restart this year, four of our committee members have resigned since the COVID disruption, and it proved difficult to recruit new members and confirm enough volunteers for marshalling etc. We have had some expressions of interest in helping to organise the event but were not able to organise the necessary road closures, first aid cover, and licensing in time for March 2024.
Ras Gŵyl Dewi does not make any profit and relies entirely on community volunteers, local support, and fundraising to hold the 5 & 10k, in addition to the 2, 3, 4, & 5k junior races. We only have sufficient reserves to hold one event, and all the associated costs have risen significantly, so we always need to try and ensure enough entrants to fund the following year’s event. Although dates later in the year have been considered in the past, there are just too many clashes with other local events and commitments, so we are now aiming to restart next year.
