A lovely day working on a Low level walk around Grasmere and Rydal water for a group on a Valkyries retreat. Lovely day looking at Lakeland myths, legends and folk stories. The Tizzie Wizzie, Jacobite armies, Coffin Road and stones, the Elterwater Giant, the Dragon Cave, Dunmail battle which was the downfall of Dunmail, last king of Cumbria and his submerged crown some of the tales we looked at

The past few days have been a crane fly frenzy. It looks like this is a second hatching this year. We had an earlier one around June and now this is the second (unless it is a different species). However, I have never seen so many Crane fly as I have over the past few days . Crane fly exuviae, mating Crane fly. And lots and lots of flying Crane fly
