After a while of not being in a place to take on new clients I am opening the books again for both personal training and massage clients🙌. Below are the services I offer;

1:1 or 2:1 personal training
At home - I am able to either work with the equipment you have, or bring bits of my own equipment to give you sessions based in the comfort of your own home

At my home gym set up - I am able to in some incidences welcome clients into my home gym for sessions, complete with a squat rack and dumbbells up to 25kg

Massage therapy - I also offer mobile massage therapy, meaning I come to you so you can get a massage in the comfort of your own home.

It's the end of an era💔

For the past year or so I've debated back and forth whether to move gyms, and what always put me off is that xcite is where I've always went, for the past 8ish years I've been interested in weight training its always been xcite. It's seen me through being a student nurse, qualifying, loads of jobs and even a wee stint PTing out of craigswood. It would always bring me comfort on bad days going in there and smashing through a workout. So many connections were made and so many memories training in there. However things change and holding onto how things were can stop you progressing, in all aspects of life, not just training.

So for now I'm going to embrace the change and the positivity that can bring, remembering the past for what it was but also welcoming the chance to grow somewhere else.

It's normal to get bored with your workout if nothing ever changes, it's important to mix up your training and sometimes even your environment when you feel things getting a bit stale.

What training split is best?

Full Body - full body workouts are great for if you don't know how many times or what days you can train, but can be longer to make sure you're hitting every muscle group and if you're training a few days in a row controlling fatigue in the muscles can be hard

Upper/lower - these workouts are good for thoroughly getting each muscle group worked, especially if you have a focus on legs, it can be better for managing fatigue if you're training a few days in a row

Push/pull/legs - this can be great for if you're training most days in a week to give each muscle group time to recover. I personally prefer it more for men, as women generally care more about leg and glute strength and aesthetic and it means you're training your upper body twice as much as lower. But it can be great particularly for those really focusing on building mass

Out of the recent evidence I've seen full body workouts tend to be more favourable and it is probably my favourite way to train, however I will also do upper and lower days depending what days of the week I train

Should my massage hurt?

There is an idea attached to sports massage that it is meant to be sore, but this isn't always necessarily true. When we are in pain we tend to tense up, and if we tense up it is nearly impossible to get in about a muscle to the extent we need to in order to help it feel better.

Some people can tolerate the uncomfortable feeling better than others and some people can be particularly tender in certain areas, but in general a sports massage should never feel unbearably sore. It can feel uncomfortable at times but pressure can always be adjusted to make it more comfortable and make sure its an experience you want to repeat, and get benefit from.

Leg daaaay🏋‍♀️ (ft the worst camera angles)

It consisted of
Front squat 3x6
RDL 4x8
Bulgarian split squat 3x6
Hip thrust machine 3x10
GHD machine 3x10

At the moment I'm focusing so much on feeling good as opposed to any specific goals in terms of weights. I want my body to move well and I want to enjoy myself in training, those are the 2 main goals and anything else is a bonus, this session succeeded in that.

Benefits to getting a sports massage in your home;

⭕️Make it as relaxing as you like, you can light candles, make the place feel as tranquil as you like with rainforrest sounds and calming frequencies, and even have sports on in the background if you would rather that

⭕️You're already home and relaxed so there's no need to be driving right after which also saves on time

⭕️Childcare is less of a worry, they can be in the home (even in the room) while you get massaged

⭕️You can get the temperature just right for you, no cold clinic rooms which can also help you feel more relaxed to promote a deeper massage

Most people feel more at ease in their own home and that's one of the reasons I love doing mobile massage, it's a treat in the place you feel most safe and secure.

Make your workouts work for you💡

A lot of people are put off exercising because of what they don't like, certain exercises being too uncomfortable, generally not enjoying the gym environment, disliking cardio but feeling like it needs done.

The truth is something is always better than nothing, whether that's doing a home workout instead of the gym, doing classes instead of weights or like me, watching space documentaries instead of listening to music while training.

Experiment with different styles of working out, different music genres, and trying something new like listening to a podcast while training. Not fitting into a standard box shouldn't stop you from getting what you want.
