Murieston 0-2 Bonnyrigg

Today was disappointing from the start after losing a slack goal in the first minute which put us on the back foot straight away. It took about 15 minutes before the girls realised there was a game to be played, something that hasn’t happened this season. From then, playing against a very good football team the desire started to come back and without too many chances being created the game was played in a competitive manner for the rest of the half. 0-1
After a few words of wisdom at the break 😁 the girls seemed a little more determined to try and get something, creating chances but also having to have some determined defending to stay in the match. Unfortunately after another mistake it was 0-2. The girls kept trying but a stubborn Bonnyrigg defence kept the girls out.

Today was their last game as u-16’s , and it’s been a journey that has had more highs than lows, league champions last year and after the step up to tier 1 a steady season which will stand them in good shape for the move to 18’s.

Onwards to the presentation night next week 🎉🏆

A massive thanks to all the parents for their support this year, I know it’s not always been easy

Bo’ness 4-2 Murieston

Scorers:

Player of the day: Ayla

Not the result we were looking for today against a team that always gives us a tough match. From the start we pushed on but after creating a couple of chances without success we lost the 1st of three 1st half goals that could have been prevented , against the run of play. The 1st half continued in the same vane us pushing and creating but losing against the run of play 3-0
After a chat the girls came out and went at it again and eventually got a goal back after a good move and this lifted the girls, they kept going and came up with another, unfortunately after getting themselves into the game they almost immediately lost a 4th. With the game closing out our girls kept going forward and playing but couldn’t get any more 🙁. Although the score didn’t go our way, there was a lot of good football played from the girls but also a few mistakes to take to training, on to the next game.
Thanks to all the parents for getting the girls there in plenty of time

Thanks again to our sponsors Stewart Watt & Co. Solicitors and Estate Agents

Murieston 1-0 Musselburgh

Scorer - Daniela

Player of the day Tiahna

Today was another tough encounter for the girls , but the result was earned and deserved. The girls started quick and got on with pressing and pushing forward with the odd chance being snuffed out by a capable defence. The 1st half was about us dominating, creating chances and missing, a pattern that has been happening for a while, we could probably have scored 4 and it wouldn’t have been undeserved. 0-0 at halftime.
The second half started with the opposition pushing forward more without creating any good chances, with us doing what we had to and still creating chances. After another couple of misses Daniela followed a shot in and popped the ball home 1-0 . Another couple of chances came and went, with the opposition pushing to try and score there was always going to be a bit of pressure. More near misses and Musselburgh keeper saves for us , and a speculative shot that came of our bar for the opposition the game ended 1-0.
The match was played in a competitive manner with a few ni**les all over the park , for the most of it the girls stood up and were counted, giving as good as they got. 👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks to the parents for their help before and after the game and for the support given to the girls

Murieston 1 v 1 Bo’ness

Scorer: Daniela

Player of the day was a tough choice but Daniela just edged it with another good team display

The girls knew it was going to be a tough game, from previous encounters over the last couple of years, and that’s how it went. Over the last few matches we have asked the girls to start quicker but with a lot of the play in midfield today there wasn’t much fluidity to the half, both teams creating half chances but nothing clear. It was through a mistake and a few missed tackles that we lost the 1st goal. 0-1. From then the girls started to lift themselves and pushed to get the goal back, but still a lot was going through the middle and breaking down. Our better chances were coming from the wide area but no joy.
Halftime 0-1
After a chat the girls came out and kept pushing, creating a few chances while limiting the opposition to shooting from distance. A little change to position helped the midfield out and with the change came a little more pressure on the opposition, with the majority of the chances falling to us. Eventually the leveller came with Daniela chasing the ball down and from a bit of determination managed to turn the ball in when the keeper let it slip through her hands . The girls took heart from this and seemed to have most of the chances for the remainder of the game, and from a corner in the last minute the girls thought the ball had crossed the line but it wasn’t given 1-1 full time.
Great credit goes to the girls, there have been a few absences through illness and injury, limiting changes to give them a bit of a break. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks to all the parents for their help today and the support given to the girls 👏🏻

Thanks to the continued support from our sponsors Stewart Watt & Co. Solicitors and Estate Agents , the help they have gave us and help going forward is greatly appreciated

League match
Murieston u-16’s 2-2 Bonnyrigg rose

Scorer Aleisha x2

Player of the day: there’s no individual winner today, it was all about the team and everyone stood up to be counted.

We spoke to the girls before hand to let them know they need to keep the pace and pressure on a good team but they were beatable, and thats what they did.
After a slow and maybe a bit apprehensive start, knowing the opponents haven’t drop a point, the girls stuck to the game plan and pressed and things started to improve before they lost a silly goal from a slack pass. 0-1. This seemed to rejuvenate the girls and from then it was an even half with both teams having chances but after a well taken free kick it was 1-1. Murieston pushed from then and had slightly more attacking moves than the opponents . 1-1 . during the break we could see the determination in the girls and a bit of disappointment that they were level, but knew they could get something from the game. The second half started as the 1st half ended with us trying to push and pressuring their defence, which was interrupting the way they like to play. The girls were showing the desire to get something and another good goal gave them the lead 2-1. From then Bonnyrigg started to push more players forward and it left spaces which we failed to capitalised on. With 10 to go they got a dubious penalty which nobody saw or even claimed for. 2-2. The girls felt hard done by and tried to right the situation but it ended 2-2.
This was a game played with a lot of ni**le and hard tackles, a lot said between the players but it showed the girls determination to fight for each other and push back when pushed. This was a game against a team who haven’t lost a point before today and a team who play nice football if allowed.

Well done to the girls 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you to the parents who helped set up the goals.

Thanks to our sponsors Stewart Watt & Co. Solicitors and Estate Agents it’s great having your continued support as the girls move forward and show continued improvement

Friendly
Murieston u-16’s 3-2 Spartans ypl

Players of the day
Lucy and Daniela (a special mention also for Brodie who stood in as goalkeeper)

Scorers
Freya
Aleisha
Laura

Today was a friendly against a team who play in the ypl and knowing them from last year we knew it was going to be a tough match. The girls were asked to start this week as they finished last week, on the front foot. They did this and went at Spartans creating multiple chances, and with better finishing we could have scored 4/5 before, from nowhere we ended up 1 down with a speculative shot that went in off the post. The girls stuck at it but the half finished 0-1 .
The second half started and it was a bit more even with both teams pushing and after a good shot from outside the box it was 0-2 . The girls knew from the chat at halftime they didn’t deserve to be losing and it was their determination that pushed them on. Freya scored her first goal for us after a scramble in the box, the chances we were missing in the first half, this lifted the girls and not long after a good strike from around 30yds from Aleisha had us even 2-2. The girls had the determination to get the win and although there was chance at both ends, Laura finished the scoring after another scramble in the box. 3-2 . The game finished with Spartans pushing and us creating on the break , but it was a deserved win 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks to the parents for their help today, and we hope for a speedy recovery to the girls that unfortunately have been injured this week.

Thanks also to our sponsors Stewart Watt & Co. Solicitors and Estate Agents their continued support moving forward is helping us continue to develop

Musselburgh 1-1 Murieston u-16’s

Player of the day- Kathryn
Scorer Cailin
Today was a hard shift for the girls, with a few new faces being introduced and the heat taking its toll as the game went on.
Murieston got of to a slow start and lost a goal in the first 5mins which could have been avoided with better defending. The girls just didn’t seem to be on it for the first 15 mins but started to get into the game and against a very physical Musselburgh, started to get a foothold on the game. The chances started coming but none were taken and after quite a physical half it ended 1-0. The halftime chat was about getting closer and holding the ball better while trying to win the first and second balls and to be a little wiser and cuter when tackling. Something we will talk about on Tuesday.
From the whistle the girls lifted it and while standing up for themselves also started to play better football. It looked like a different team. Most of the chances fell our way although we still weren’t clinical enough until the equaliser arrived from a corner. From then on we had a few good chances but couldn’t take them, while some good defending cut them to very little in the way of shots.
A mention goes out to the new girls who stepped up when asked and to the girls that played in positions a little alien to them through absences.
On to the next game.

Thanks to the parents for getting the girls there on time.

Thanks also to the continued support from Stewart Watt & Co. Solicitors and Estate Agents it very much appreciated

Murieston 4 3 Lauderdale

Aleisha 3 Abby 1

Players of the day Mia &. Aleisha

Today the girls started the game very strongly and took control working well as a team taking an early lead, finishing the first half 3:0.
The second half again saw the girls taking control and going 4:0 up, Lauderdale got themselves back into game and scored 2 good goal’s, despite the girls remaining the dominant team and having multiple attempts on goal the score remain the same until the last five minutes when Lauderdale scored their 3rd.
Overall a very strong team performance from the girls!
Onto next week

Murieston 1-3 Athena Glasgow

Today was a day to rub the cobwebs off after the summer break.
The girls started well and were in a game that was quite even although the wind was playing its part, and took the lead from a corner with Abby popping up after the ball ended up at the back post. There was some nice football being played by both teams and you could see the girls trying to hold the ball up while being put under pressure by Athena, the 1st half ended with the opposition scoring 2 good goals, which if they had been dealt with at source wouldn’t have happened but there was no denying the quality when they went in.
The 2nd half started with Athena doing most of the pushing and Murieston defending while trying to get out against the wind, With the girls tiring and the pressure increasing we lost a scrappy 3rd .
There was lots of positives to take from today and also some points to bring up at training but it was a good workout and lets us know what to expect when we go back into league action next week. Some of the girls were asked to play positions that were a bit different to what they are used to and in the whole they seemed comfortable enough, which gives us options going forward.

Thanks to everyone for getting the girls there and the support given to the girls today
