Congratulations to Karina Nikolova for winning the Marg McGee ‘Club Person of the Year’ Award. Karina came out of nowhere this year and rapidly became one of our best junior defenders. She was a reliable and encouraging captain. She knew when her players were unavailable and was proactive in trying to solve any issues. Karina often volunteered to fill in for other teams when they were short, and in any position they needed. She even filled in for a senior game and was named ‘Player of the Match’ by the umpires. She always came early to training to assist with coaching the younger age group, and she was really great with the children. She also stayed late to umpire for the next session and help clear up. It has been a delight to watch Karina excel in all areas of the game. Our Marg was also a great player, umpire and coach, so it’s very fitting that Karina wins this award.

The Island's Ladies 3x3 Team has been announced for the Commonwealth Qualifiers in Manchester this weekend.

Danielle Murphy, Zoe Kirkham, Becky Dunne and Mairi Harrison will represent the Isle of Man against Wales, Northern Ireland and England for the chance to go to the Glasgow games in July.

This is the first time the islands basketball community will participate in the Commonwealth Games, with all qualifiers streamed live from Manchester during Friday and Saturday on the Basketball England YouTube channel.

A few photos from our trip to watch the Superleague Netball double-header in Liverpool … with a little bit of shopping, bowling and darts added in. Thank you to Jane Ryder-Clague for organising it.
