HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY, CAPTAIN.

Today is all about our skipper, Joe Clarke, who turns 16.

Joe isn't just somebody who plays for Forza Roma. He's part of the furniture.

He's been there through the wins, the losses, the good seasons, the difficult ones, the freezing Tuesday nights, the early Saturday mornings and everything else that comes with grassroots football.

And he's still here. Still wearing the shirt. Still leading the boys. Still giving everything for his team.

We've watched Joe grow from a little kid who just wanted to play football into the young man who now wears the captain's armband for us.
That's what grassroots is really about.

Football gives you results and trophies, but the best part is getting to watch these kids grow up right in front of you.

Forza Roma 5-4 Stanfield

League football is back and the boys got the reward their hard work deserved.

After a difficult pre-season against some very strong opposition, the lads showed exactly why results don't always tell the full story. The work, fitness, lessons and resilience built over the last few weeks were there for everyone to see today.

Roma raced into a 3-0 half-time lead before extending it to 5-0. Stanfield fought back brilliantly to make it 5-4, but the boys stood strong and got over the line.

The biggest positive wasn't the scoreline. It was the basics. Communication, teamwork, shape, discipline and hard work. The lads stuck to the game plan and played as a team from first whistle to last.

Man of the Match goes to Dahud after a superb hat-trick and tireless performance leading the line. A special mention also to Matei for a fantastic free-kick.

A lot of hard work still ahead, but a winning start to the league campaign and a performance the whole squad can be proud of.

Tomorrow it all starts.

After a long and demanding pre-season, the Forza Roma U16s begin their League 2 campaign against Stanfield Junior.

Plenty of hard work has gone in over the summer.

New faces, tough friendlies, lots of fitness and plenty of lessons along the way.

Now it’s time for competitive football.

Leukaemia Awareness

Today we raise awareness for something that has become very close to all of us at Forza Roma.

In December, our Little Joe was diagnosed with leukaemia. Since then, Joe and his family have been going through a journey no family ever expects to face.

Joe remains a massive part of our team and is always in our thoughts.

Today is for Joe, his family and every person affected by leukaemia.

Keep fighting, Little Joe.

PRE-SEASON DONE. NOW IT COUNTS.

A well-earned night out for the Roma boys after an intense pre-season focused heavily on getting the fitness levels back after a 7-week break. To the lads who couldn't make tonights meal there will be no charge for September's subs.

Great to have a couple of our new additions involved tonight too as the squad continues to come together.

Rest day tomorrow.

Then on Saturday, our league campaign begins with a tough opening test against Stanfield.

GOALKEEPER
CENTRE MIDFIELDER

Medium level – Division 2

Anfield based
Training – Tuesday evenings
Matches – Saturdays

FORZA ROMA 2–4 BOCA BUCKS

A disappointing first half ultimately cost us tonight, going into the break 4–0 down before producing a much better response in the second half.

But the message tonight has to be about more than the scoreline.

We have a squad with plenty of ability, but ability alone isn’t enough. At this level, work rate, concentration, desire and doing the difficult work without the ball are non-negotiable.

We’ve seen too many games where we allow the damage to be done before producing a reaction. Tonight was another example. The second-half response showed what this team is capable of, but we simply cannot keep waiting until games are getting away from us before finding that level.

Pre-season is now finished. The experimenting stops and competitive football starts on Saturday.

We know what this group is capable of, but now it has to be replicated on the pitch from the first whistle to the last.

A lot to work on. A lot of conversations to have. And a big response required when our league campaign begins on Saturday.
