As this is the Hedgehog page I wouldn't normally do this, but what's the point in having a company with social media presence (however big it is) if you can't do something good with it now and then, so forgive me.
The little girl in the middle is Niamh, and last week she was playing in the woods with my son and many other friends. She sat down happily near my wife and then my wife heard the rustling of leaves and turned around to find Niamh collapsed. Realising something was seriously wrong, and no news of an ambulance being able to come any time soon, it was decided to rush her to Worthing A&E in a car.
It turned out 11-year old Niamh had a blood clot on the brain, which led to her having a stroke. Unable to offer her the specialist help she was going to need she was quickly taken by Ambulance to Southampton General. The specialists there have said that if she hadn't got to the hospital within 4 hours, they would not have been able to offer her the treatment they started her on and things would probably have been very different. Within a couple of days she was more lucid, able to sort of use her left hand and communicate through expression and her eyes. Speech is slowly coming back and although she has sensation in the right hand side of her body, to the best of my knowledge she is still struggling to get her limbs and the right hand side of her face moving.
You can see from the picture that Niamh is doing well, but her (and her family) are going to need lots of help over the coming months to make sure that her recovery is a full as it can possibly be.
Her parents are doing all they can to help, but travelling to and from the hospital and making sure she has everything she might need to help her in that recovery is not cheap. So a gofundme page has been started to help Niamh and her family.
I know times are tough, but if you can afford to, please contribute. If you cannot afford to, no problem, but please, please, please, share this post to everyone you know - it's free and could make a massive difference to how Niamh comes through this bump in her life.
