Last night we took two boxers to Balham ABC for a club show.

After what can only be described as a huge mixup, Archie Dowling didn’t get to box. It was a massive waste of time for El Capitan but sometimes this happens in sport and he took the disappointment like a Champ. The way this young man deals with things is a testament to his attitude.

Matt Edwards got his first win against a last minute opponent, in an evenly matched contest Matt took the decision by a majority verdict. This was razor close and could have gone either way. We applaud Heathrow ABC and Matt’s opponent Artur absolute gentleman of a man. He acknowledged that in his eyes Matt was the winner on the night. A true sportsman who is a credit to his club.

We will honour what we said and have the rematch at some point in the future.

Max Wheeler triumphs in Alliance Novice Youth Championships final

Local boxing talent Max Wheeler showcased grit and determination in an electrifying performance on Sunday, as he emerged victorious in the finals of the Alliance Novice Championships held at Hayes Working Men’s club.

Archie’s ABC is based at the Littlehampton Academy and welcomes people of all abilities. Training is on a Tuesday and a Thursday

Juniors - 18:00-19:00 (11-16)

Seniors - 19:00-20:00 (17+)

Great sparring today at Artful Dodgers. Chichester Boxing Club and South Coast Boxing Club all in attendance. Great rounds had by all. Even had the pleasure of having decorated professional (European, Commonwealth , British and English Champion)Michael Sprott with his son Darnell - made the trip all the way from Reading!!
