Our end of season day out at the Rose and Bowl was a great success despite the thunder storms . Good Bowling. Great people. Lovely food. Howard Steele won the day with Gill Marsden coming a very close second in a very entertaining and nail biting final. The day ended with flowers presented to Linda Rhodes and Angela Goodram for running our club kitchen all season 👏 Thanks are also due to Linda Rhodes who organised the day and Pam Preston who organised the matches.

A fantastic £1,600 was raiswd at our Alzheimer's event and a thank you letter received from the Alzhimers Society
Dear John,
We can achieve so much more when we come together. Thank you so much to your group for raising a fantastic £1600. We will ensure that we make every penny count to drive our crucial work.

There are an estimated 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, and this number will only rise in the coming years. By 2040, there are likely to be nearly 1.6 million people living with dementia in the UK. The total cost of health and social care, including unpaid care by friends and family, for people living with dementia in the UK is currently £34.7 billion per year, and this is projected to rise to £94.1 billion per year in 2040. As things stand, two-thirds of these costs are paid by people living with dementia and their families.

We’ll make sure that your donation is put to good use, whether it’s spent on campaigning governments to make dementia the priority it should be or delivering vital services across the UK. You’re making a huge difference.

Just one of the vital services we provide is Talking Point, our online safe space, where a trouble shared can become a trouble halved. People accessing Talking Point can learn from each other’s experiences, share their frustrations and their knowledge of local services. Talking Point lets people living with dementia share and learn from each other in a safe online space. Just £50 means 312 people can access this site any time, day or night.

Once again, thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Sandeep Shikotra, Supporter Care Manager

LOTTERY UPDATE
The current lottery has been running 9 weeks and still without a winner (but lots of members requiring only one number!). As all members are fully paid up to yesterday (but, in most cases, not beyond) I propose freezing the jackpot at the current figure (£175) and not colecting any further subs. Those who are paid up beyond Saturday will get a refund. Cheers

The Alzheimer’s Charity event was a great success thanks to all the people who put their heart and soul into raising funds for this worthy cause.
The winners of the match were Cath Holt and Paul Bailey. Runners up Anne Harris and John Bauld. We look to have made over £1000 so heartfelt thanks to all who contributed. Here’s to beating this terrible disease

ERIC ASHWORTH TROPHY
Another wonderfull turnout for this popular internal event. Zoe's enforced absence recently has done nothing to diminish her skills on the green as she brilliantly pipped the excellent Craig Wood in a nail-biting final.
Huge thanks to Howard for masterminding a great afternoon and for the support of the Asworth family and club members..
I'm sure I noticed Carol's tree on the back green break into a smile!!
