Important Notice to All Members

MEAT BAN NOW IN FORCE

Following ongoing monitoring of water quality across our fisheries, the Committee has taken the decision to prohibit the use of all meat and animal-based baits on all Todmorden Angling Society waters with immediate effect.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Luncheon meat
• Spam
• Sausage
• Prawns
• Mussels
• Cockles
• Crab
• Any other meat derived bait

The decision has not been taken lightly. Investigations into recent water quality issues, including green water algae blooms, have identified the introduction of excess organic matter and nutrients into our waters as a significant contributing factor. Unused bait being regularly discarded into the lakes at the end of sessions further compounds this issue.

Members are reminded that any angler found using prohibited baits or discarding unused bait into the water will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with Society rules.

We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of all members as we work to protect and improve our fisheries for the benefit of everyone.

Good evening all,

It has come to our attention that an individual who is currently serving a 12-month suspension from the Society has been circulating misleading information regarding TAS and its relationship with disabled members.

For the avoidance of doubt, TAS has invested significant resources over many years to improve accessibility wherever reasonably possible. This includes the provision of wheelchair-accessible pegs and facilities at Croft, Portsmouth, Ramsden Wood, Folly, and several sections of the canal network, ensuring that disabled anglers have access to a wide range of our waters.

The individual responsible for these allegations is currently the subject of a police investigation relating to their conduct towards several TAS volunteers. Since their suspension, they have chosen to make a number of false and potentially defamatory statements about the Society, which appear intended to damage the reputation of TAS and its volunteers.

Should any member have information regarding these comments, including details of the platforms on which they have been posted, we would be grateful if you could contact us directly. Any relevant information will be passed to the appropriate authorities.

Thank you for your continued support.

Tight lines,

TAS Committee
