Next weekend the club head down to the village of Lerryn for a fancy dress charity hike and drinks. The weather is looking fantastic and it should be a great day so why not come and join us? 🐄

The club have already had a couple of tick bites this summer and looking at the schedule there is a lot of countryside rambles with thick vegetation still to come.

My advice is keep yourself covered unless you'd like a new pet living on you!

Some photos from yesterday’s club outing to St Breward.

Twenty-six of us in total made the trip up to St Breward. We set off a little later than planned (as usual!), but were soon stomping through fields and climbing over stiles—there were more than 50 of them in total!

After a few miles, we stopped for a short break near the Devil’s Jump outcrop to admire the view and take a quick rest. Once rested, we set off again, making our way through wildflower meadows to the halfway point of the day at Advent Church.

After lunch, we headed back through fields and across open moorland on a mission to get to the pub for a well deserved drink. Unfortunately, the phone signal was erratic most of the day and we ended up slightly off route. Thankfully, a kind farmer spotted us and let us take a shortcut through his land back to the pub!

All in all, it was a top day out in the sunshine, with great company and nice scenery throughout (What more could you ask for?)

Our next hike, in two weeks time marks the halfway point of this years hiking calender and is a fancy-dress charity hike raising money for Liskeard's Lighthouse Centre. It's going to be fun to see what everyone turns up wearing! 🐄

Starting from the village of St Breward, we pick our way across the moors to the rocky outcrop of the Devil's Jump. From there, we continue through wild fields and meadows before stopping for a lunch at the pretty Advent Church. After our break, we head back across the moors to St Breward for a well-deserved drink at Cornwall's highest-elevation pub!

This is a fairly easy route through a tranquil part of Bodmin Moor, but there are many stiles of varying sizes and conditions to clamber over. There is also a good chance of spotting wildlife along the route🐄

Distance: 7.5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate

There is free parking available around the village.

I thought I would give you all advanced notice that the charity hike is less than 4 weeks time. Hopefully that should give you all enough time to get a costume sorted for the day.

There is no 'theme' so wear whatever you like.

As it will be midsummer and us dressed like muppets in the heat I have chosen a relatively easy route just short of 5 miles. There is a cafe at the halfway point for refreshments and I will be bringing a coolbox with drinks in at the end for everyone. It should be a fun day 😎🐄

For those wanting to participate there is a £10 entry fee with all proceeds going to liskeards Lighthouse Community Centre CIC

Some photos from yesterdays club trip to Dartmoor.

A good number of us set off from the village of Meavy and headed up on to the moors. We had lovely views all day and seen a wide array of wildlife including an adder swimming, lizards, trout and damselflies.

Many thanks to all the wonderful drivers who got us there and back and a thank you to Lorna for making delicious muffins to eat on our break (they were amazing).

Our next hike is in a fortnights time when we head to a quiet part of Bodmin Moor to do one of our favourite hikes from St Breward to the Devils Jump 🐄
