6 weeks progress!!!!!!

This client came to me 6 weeks ago with the main aim of improving her gym confidence while getting slightly leaner and building some muscle🙌

Not only have we smashed ALL of these goals (with HUGE strength increases EVERY week😍) but also improved positivity around nutrition and learnt how to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle while still enjoying a busy social life 💃🥂

Finally happy to be able to call myself a fully qualified Sport Rehabilitator and Strength + conditioning coach✨🤩

It has been one hell of a journey over the last three years…but my degree was what kick started my love for coaching and for that, I guess it was worth all the stress and tears🙌👩‍🎓

Consistency🫡✨

Recently I’ve seen a massive improvement in all my clients levels of commitment and consistency within their programmes which has proven very beneficial to their progress and results!

When beginning or maintaining a fitness journey it is easy to set yourself unsustainable and unrealistic targets in order to reach goals such as:
- cutting out food groups
- Over exercising
- Cutting out “bad” foods
- Doing endless amounts of cardio
- Saying no to social events in fear of “falling off track”
These things, as you can probably tell, are not sustainable and will only lead to short term progress, if any at all!

Instead I try and encourage clients to focus on setting goals that are more realistic so that they are more likely to be consistent with them and manage them better such as:
- increasing protein intake within each meal
- Adding an extra 1000 steps daily
- Turning up to just one extra gym session in for the week
- Swapping one snack a day for a healthier option

This way goals can be easily implemented into your daily routine and it is more likely that you will remain consistent which is the key to lifelong sustainable results❣️

Small steps every day✨

Last week I posted about having a bit of an off week with regards to training…

However it’s important to remember that a fitness journey is a journey for a reason. It’s not going to be easy every day!

There will be good days and bad days but this is where we need to remain patient and just do our best.

Instead of being disheartened by these bad days we should:
- Ask ourselves WHY we may be having an off day (usually things like lack of sleep, inadequate nutrition or higher than usual stress levels)
- Appreciate not every day is going to be a huge success
- Listen to our bodies and rest when needed
- Think about how we are going to move forward and put goals in place to make sure it happens💪

Overall, it is the small changes each day that count in the long run and one bad day isn’t going to have a dramatic affect the longer term results we achieve, even tho it may feel like it.

So take each days as it comes (as I did last week!), reflect on the process and look at moving forwards😌

FRESH AIR🦋🌞

As the weather finally starts to feel a bit more like summer, we all want to be enjoying the 🌞

But what are the benefits of enjoying the fresh air and sunshine?

It makes us:

HAPPIER - released endorphins + reduces stress

My top tips for effective training💪✨

1. HAVING A PLAN: A mistake a lot of people make when starting their fitness journey is not planning their workouts before entering the gym. This not only means you cannot effectively progress your lifts in order to reach your goals, but can also be very time consuming and tedious meaning you are less likely to put 100% into the workout.
2. PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD: in order to reach your goals and progress your workouts you MUST increase the intensity of your exercises to allow the body to continue adapting and improving🏋️ This does not always have to be weight related and you can easily increase the intensity through things such as exercise tempo and decreasing rest time.
3. INCORPORATING THINGS YOU ENJOY: The biggest mistake a lot of people make is forcing themselves to do exercises they may hate only because they may are deemed the “most effective” online…However the best type of exercise you can do is one you enjoy! Whether that be bodyweight circuits or heavy lifting, incorporating the things you love into your fitness plans not only ensures the process is enjoyable but also increases the chances of being consistent and sticking to your goals - leading to life long changes!🙌✨

Why do I love what I do? ✨

When becoming a trainer, my main goal was to try and help as many people as possible become confident in the gym and help them achieve the goals they’ve been dreaming of. Today I received this lovely message from a member I’ve recently worked with about how well she’s getting on with her confidence in the gym after just a week of starting her fitness journey!

As its bank holiday weekend, lots of people worry about staying “on track” and think one or two days will ruin all progress in the gym…

THIS IS NOT THE CASE!

If you want to train, go for it
However If you want to drink gin while sitting in the sun with family and take the a few days to relax…GO FOR IT

When maintaining a healthy balanced fitness journey, it is critical we remember to also have fun and spend time with friends and family when we can🥂 This not only makes the process more enjoyable, but also more sustainable for longer term results🙌
