MATCH REPORT 25/26 SEASON

Our competition season in the Plymouth & District Badminton Leagues has drawn to a close and what a season it has been. With 9 teams hitting the courts plus the Beckly Cup Team, it has been a massive effort by our captains and match secretaries to fulfil all fixtures. All fixtures were met with no penalties incurred showing massive commitment on the part of our players. With 4 Open Teams, 2 Ladies Teams, 3 Medley Teams and a Beckly Cup Team who reached the final of this knock out competition, it is definitely worth recognising the achievement in fulfilling all fixtures without the need to play void players, proving the depth and commitment within the club of its players and officials. Strict nomination rules apply for being able to play within a team, adding to the complexity of ensuring a team doesn’t incur penalties. A huge well done to those involved with the organisation of this and a big thank you must go to the Plymouth and District Badminton League for their hard work running the League, Liskeard Leisure Centre for providing excellent facilities for our home matches and to all our players who have been just truly amazing!

EASTER TOURNAMENT 2026 - An increased entry of 20 pairings for our 6th Club Tournament! A great evening of badminton with this fantastic group of players, great sportsmanship shown as always whilst battling it out for the prestigious Alistair McDonald Plate. Jean and Matt took the trophy this time, with second place going to Becky and Ross, third place to David G and Jago, and fourth to Mike and John D. The plate event was won by Syd H and John S with runners up Claire and Tony. A big thank you to Julian Cooper, chairman of CCBA and President of the Plymouth & District League for making the presentations. The Minions took the best fancy dress trophy with Wally coming a close second because we couldn’t find him! Well done to everyone who took part, especially Liz for stepping in to play to cover an injury and a big thank you to Jess Canfield for running a very efficient tournament table as always. It only remains for us to wish all our members, coaches, supporters and our sponsor the Halfway House together with anyone else involved with Liskeard Inclusive Badminton a very Happy Easter break and we look forward to seeing you back on court on Monday 20 April 2026 for the Summer Term with the End of Season tournament taking place on Monday 13 July when we will do it all again!🏸

TONIGHTS SESSIONS CANCELLED!

Unfortunately we have made the decision to cancel all of tonight's sessions due to road and weather conditions.
We do not believe it is worth the risk, especially due to the rural locations of a lot of our players!

Juniors back next Monday!
Pay and Play back again on Thursday 6.45-8pm!

CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT 2025 - A fantastic entry of 18 pairings for our 5th Club Tournament! A great evening was had with this fantastic group of players, great sportsmanship shown as always whilst they competed for the prestigious Alistair McDonald Plate. Congratulations to the winners of our main event, which after a very hard fought final were David and Liam with runners up Duncan and Lucy. In joint third place was Kerensa and John, David and Vicki. We were able to run a plate event too which was subsequently won by Hannah and Sam and runners up were Roy and Ross. A big thank you to Jean and Andrew McDonald for attending to present the winners with their medals and the Alistair McDonald Plate to the overall winners. Debbie took the best fancy dress medal! Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to Jess Canfield for running a very efficient tournament table. It was great too having the Chairman of Cornwall County Badminton Association, Julian Cooper with us for support and calling the raffle. It only remains for us to wish all our members, coaches, supporters and our sponsor the HALFWAY HOUSE GLYNN VALLEY together with anyone else involved with Liskeard Inclusive Badminton a very Happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you back on court on Monday 5 January. 🏸

PRIMARY AGED (5-11 YEARS) & SECONDARY AGED (11+ YEARS) SESSIONS

We presently have some spaces available in our primary aged (5-11 years) and secondary aged (11+ years) badminton sessions. Badminton is an excellent sport enjoyed by millions and is the nation’s favourite racket sport! We want to inspire everyone to play more and start their journey of a life long love and enjoyment of badminton! Our sessions are run by Badminton England Registered Coaches. Sessions are £5 each on Mondays 4pm - 5pm Primary Aged and 5pm - 6pm Secondary Aged at Liskeard Leisure Centre. First taster session is free! All equipment is provided!
