Phacelia is a favourite of the bees and can be found at the top of the field but is just coming to the end of its display. However more and more sunflowers are popping out everyday now and have been loaded with bees and butterflies today.

If you have been in the field over the last week you may have noticed we have drilled and rolled grass seeds into the field. We have left an area along the hedge to the right and left of the gateway entrance so please park here. We have also left a track around the flower strip.

Dogs bringing the owners are kindly reminded make sure their owners bag and bin any toilet deposits. We have had to pick up dog poo this week on the path where everyone is walking. Also remember the crops being grown in this field are to feed our animals and we don’t want dog poo mixed in it.

…. Anyway, please pop in while the flowers are in full display, plenty of flowers to pick and take home with you.

The Sunflowers are loving this settled weather we are having, all of the flowers are !
If you pop in to pick a bunch make sure you bring a pair of scissors to cut the sunflower stems as they are very strong and won’t do by hand.

The Flower field is open !
It is situated in the usual field, for those that haven’t been before head to Pengover Green, and the field is situated right on the corner of the middle of the village (where the cross road is signposted).

You are welcome to pick a bunch of flowers to take home with you and we just ask for a donation towards our chosen charity which this year is Children's Hospice South West (Little Harbour)

Make sure you walk to the top of the flowers if you can, as the flowers vary as you go up through.

A few polite requests:

Please do not trample through the flowers there is plenty of access up through and once the flowers go down they won’t pick up. We want them to last as long as possible for everyone.

Please park cars in the field along the hedge, do not obstruct the gateway or park in the village/on the road.

Please don’t drive around the field as there are a few unexpected bumps and tramlines from the tractors which your car will not like.

Strictly No smoking in the field

Well behaved dogs are welcome on a lead with responsible owners who promise to pick up any toilet deposits and take away with them and not leave hanging on the gate ! (There is a dog poo bin at the end of the village heading towards Menheniot).

The field has just been harvested for corn so is a bit lumpy bumpy under foot, sensible shoes needed and if you are thinking about bringing your dog they may find it a bit prickly to walk on and not like it.

We recommend bringing a pair of scissors to cut the flowers, especially the sunflowers which have a very tough stem. Please only take one sunflower so there are plenty for everyone.

We have had lots of people asking if we have any flowers this year. The answer is YES! We have been cutting the Barley in the field today and will be baling up the straw so that it is then accessible for everyone to come.

Watch this space over the next couple of days for when the field is officially open.

So here is an update of the flower field, unfortunately it’s not looking very good 🙁. Because we had such a wet winter we sowed the flower seeds a lot later this year but it seems the w**ds have pushed ahead and crowded out the flowers. There are patches where the flowers have come through and flowers are there if you hunt for them. The phacelia is looking really good and the bees and butterflies are loving it but it’s along the hedge hidden by the w**d. We will keep an eye on the flowers as there are signs of more cornflowers coming up through and cosmos as well.

We have had several inquiries the last few weeks as to whether we are open.

We are not open yet ….. due to the wet winter we had, we were later sowing the seeds this year. Hopefully in the next 6 weeks we should start seeing some flowers.

We will let you know when the flowers are out

The flowers are looking really good when the sun comes out at the moment. They’ve had a lot to contend with this summer with ever changing weather conditions, there are a few w**ds but lots of different flowers to spot and pick, with over half an acre around the edge of our field.

You can find the field at Pengover Green, field on the junction in the village. Please park inside the field just along the road hedge. Please pick a posy of flowers to take home, donations greatly received.

Dogs welcome, on a lead. Please pick up any toilet deposits.

Please remember this is a agricultural field so please make sure you take any rubbish with you. There are no refreshments or toilet facilities.
