MG Coaching "Crafting training plans which empowers everyone to achieve their sporting potential."

Coaching is fundamentally a two way relationship, it’s about building trust, identifying and working towards a chosen goal. Creating a personalised training plan which identifies weaknesses, maintains and enhances strengths while taking into account the ebbing and flowing of everyday life. However, it should be remembered commitment, dedication and loyalty to the training plan will bring about progress, better results and personal success.

Denise Brewster, Rhiada Triathlon Club, took on Sunday's Belfast City Half Marathon after months of injury niggles and medically unexplained issues post Covid.

However not to be outdone she has been determined to get back to her best. Hence, she placed a start number on her back and took it the whole way to the finish line in time of 2hrs 7 mins.

Well done Denise on great display of resilience.

The Causeway Coastal Ultra Trail covering a distance of 64km was a target of Peter Trimble, Invictus Triathlon, after covering last years marathon distance.

He took part in Saturday's event running alongside fellow team mate Stefan Tracey. This is a true feat of endurance hand railing the rugged coast line over the said distance which took the guys marginally over the 9 hr mark to complete!!

Well done guys!

Simon Whittaker, Invictus Triathlon Club, travelled to Erkner, Germany to participate in what was his first long course triathlon.

Within the idyllic landscape of the Oder-Spree region Simon gave a very good account of his fitness gained over the last 11 months. He maintained a measured pace throughout all three disciplines to give him a well earned sub 5 hour finish for the distance.

Well done Simon!! 👊 4:58 hrs - Excellent race!

IM Copenhagen Success

Jennifer Hamilton and Peter Topping, Invictus Triathlon Club last weekend took to the start line at Ironman Copenhagen. And the pair took full advantage of the great race day conditions.

Both athletes had very different races but equally as successful. Jennifer had fire in her belly from the off and ticked off every element of the race to pace, coming over the finish line in a metronomic 11:03 hrs. As a bonus she finished second in her Age Group which gave her a qualifying slot for World Championships.

This was Peter's first IM and he didn't have the best rundown to the start line as he was hampered by ankle and calf problems. Not to be deterred he dug in and completed the course in a notable 12:56 hrs.

A genuine delight working with these two athletes. Looking forward to much more in the future.

Well done team!

Simon Whitaker is another hard working athlete from the Invictus Triathlon club who has been busy getting some race practice under his belt, in preparation for his season goal event, 70.3 Berlin Erkner.

Not long after returning from family holidays he took on the tough Top of the Mourne Triathlon giving a good account of himself over a notorious hilly course.

At yesterday’s FATLAD Carrick Triathlon he backed a great swim up with solid bike and run legs to finish in 11th place overall.

With four weeks remaining he has his eyes firmly focused on Berlin.

Well done Simon

Jeff Hillis and Peter Trimble, Invictus Triathlon Club, stepped away from the Ironman circuit to try something a little different this year.

The Alpe d’Huez Triathlon is iconic and is famous for being difficult. And due to these factors it was always billed as a bucket list event and an itch that needed to be scratched, for the two of them.

However, the climb up the notorious Alpe d’Huez and its 21 bends to the summit is really only a very small part of the day’s proceedings.

Training was certainly creative for the event but specificity was always going to prove problematic and it certainly played a pivotal part in preparations. Added to this was the altitude and the on the day heat topping out at around the 30 degrees.

But not to be deterred the two guys battled the course through and came away winning over what the renowned course and terrain had to offer! It wasn’t easy and it certainly had them chewing on their tongues!

Well done guys!
