Another day at Down Royal Park Golf Course for the UGGG's.
Great weather despite the forecast for rain and wind.
Ex-hurricane.
What ex-hurricane? Bit like my ex-wife, bit of a disappointment.
Anyway........
Off we went down the front nine and by the 6th, I, William, had lost, what was it, 7 balls! Not quite playing my best but I was plugging away.
Noel on the other hand was finding balls everywhere he went and actually by the end of the day, had a lovely collection of Callaway Golf Europe and Titleist UK & Ireland and Srixon balls to take home. Well done.
Brendy seemed to playing with balls with voice controls, as he was giving each and every one instructions on why they weren't doing what he asked them to do. He was also keeping us all together with the rules.
On the turn I had had enough and opened my can of Monster Energy Ultra and a banana. A pick me up was called for, that nasty man-flu during the week had really knocked me for six.
So halfway point and its -
William = 8 points.
Noel = 12 points.
Brendy = 12 points.
A close fought battle.
The back nine and everyone improved.
I played a bit better and didn't lose as many balls, the Monster Energy must have done the trick. Noel put on the par show with 5 in a row followed by a birdie and Brendy put the boot down with the points gathering, and ended up thrashing us.
Final points -
William = 21 points.
Noel = 25 points.
Brendy = 33 points.
The UGGG's Cup returns to Newry.
Next outing......
I will be growing a Mo for Movember Foundation UK in November so might see about having a wee charity golf tourney at the 9 hole Valley Course at Down Royal to encourage the more casual UGGG's members out again and indeed if you all could bring a friend or two, or bring the wife or girlfriend or both, we can have a good wee competition, with overall winner, longest drive and closest to pin. All that to be confirmed. So stay tuned.
